OK, maybe "disowned" is too strong of a word (but maybe not). But I thought it would be kind of an interesting topic to list and discussed various player who played for the rival team of their hometowns.

For me at the top of the list is Isaiah Thomas.

Also, currently, you have Paul Pierce, who is from LA, playing for the Celtics.

Who else?

E:60 did a part on how much Philly hates Kobe Bryant. Other than that I'm not so sure.

Pierce has to top the list since he was stabbed in his face when he went home

Lakers and Sixers are not rivals. Kobe does not belong on the list.

He was stabbed in Boston not LA.

I dont see how you can say Kobe. Im sure philly hates him (philly hates everyone) but the Lakers arent exactly the 76ers rivals.

One could say Rondo. He is from Louisville yet he attended UKentucky.

dude the lakers and the 76s have played against each other in the finals like 4 or 5 times. not to mention how good the 01 series was. phili/L.A is a fairly legit rivalry.

Weve played them in the finals three times since 1980, and the 2001 Championship was that last legitimate chance to win it, where they were beat by the Lakers. Maybe not a huge rivalry, but a rivalry.

Why???

Part of it was on his relationship wit Phili, not the entire thing, I think.

Not a rivalry but Kevin Love playing for UCLA in college then the Wolves in NBA. Was shocked and displeased with how fans treated him first time coming to the Rose Garden.

No one "ever promised him a rose garden." LOL
