Monty Williams and the Hornets have reportedly agreed to a three-year contract for him to take over the team's head coaching duties.

Tom Thibodeau was indecisive and is counting on getting the Bulls job, so the Hornets moved quickly to sign Williams, who is an assistant in Portland. We'll have to see what kind of impact this has on the value of guys like Chris Paul and David West, but our guess is the answer will be 'not much.' http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-williamshornets060410

Good hire? Bad hire? They wanted Thibodeau but couldn't get him.

I know nothing about this guy. It sounds like a no name coach for a team looking to keep under the cap and not pay much.

Thibodeau and Williams were reportedly "head to head"...."1A/1B" so I feel the Hornets got the guy they wanted.

I like when teams give first-time head coaches a chance instead of an old retread.

Monty Williams is an excellent coach. I hope he does well in New Orleans, though I would love to have him back on the Blazers staff.
