L.A closes this out in the end.

I agree that this is a must win, especially with the 2-3-2 format that favors the home team so much. If this goes to the Lakers, I don't care if I'm jumping the gun, but this series will be over.

It's really a must win for both teams. L.A can't go into Boston forced to win 1/3. If L.A wins game 2, and lose all 3 in Boston, then they can come close it out at home. I'm fairly confident they'll be able to do just that since they're a great home team.

If Boston loses game 2, the pressure is on them to win 3 straight against the Lakers which will be very difficult to do. Don't see the Celtics winning games 6 and 7 in L.A if they lose one at their home floor.

Eh. Not exactly. 3 straight at home after game 2, we can go down 2-0 and still make a comeback.

You people are ignorant if you think this series isn't over if Los Angeles wins game 2. There is no way Boston can win 3 straight against the Lakers, home court or no home court. I predicted 6 but wouldn't be surprised if Los Angeles closes out in Massachusetts.

Why not? Detroit did so in 2004 without HCA and they had lost a home game in every series prior to that while LA was undefeated at home before the finals.

Really enjoying this finals.

I honestly didn't think i would but both teams are playing with an intensity that resembles and characterized 90's finals type of basketball. Love when teams play like they truly have a rivalry, you can tell we'll be seeing some confrontations and continuation [increase as well] of the physicality we saw in game 1. Can't wait for game two...

Rooting for the Lakers, i hate the Celtics.

Looked more 80's then 90's (from what I've seen in footage). People hittin' the deck, hard fouls. That Artest/Pierce double technical had to have been the fasted T in the history of the NBA.

i so completely disagree.....

all it takes is for the visiting team to steal one of the first two game, not unlikely considering this IS the finals and the two best teams are playing, and then there are 3 freaking games for the visiting team to take care of to control the series......

i hate the 2-3-2 format since it was instituted to help the celtics of the 80's

I think you're in the minority. I don't know many people who agree with you.

I just think it's much harder to win three games in a row at home than it is to win 2, then go back on the road, and then win another at home. You make it sound like winning three in a row at home is easy. I think it's a daunting task.

Expecting a team to defend home court three games in a row is asking a lot. The 2-3-2 is harder on the road team, IMO.

Why not? Detroit did so in 2004 without HCA and they had lost a home game in every series prior to that while LA was undefeated at home before the finals.

Because it's been over three years since we've lost three in a row twice. With Gasol, it's happened once....with all three on the road against good teams and we had Bynum, Kobe and somebody else hurt. LA just doesn't lose three in a row. If Boston doesn't win this, it's over in 6 and maybe even 5.

LA - 105
Boston - 88

I'll agree that it Boston doesn't win this game it is over in 6 (5 is still unlikely given the ratings its getting). If they do win it will go to 7 and LA will have a big advantage in game 7. They really should do away with the 2-3-2 format.

Lakers by 8. I think it'll be a closer game with some lead changes in the first half. I think Kobe will have another 30-5-5 game at the minimum. C's can't collapse on him like they did 2 years ago. Pau is improved, Bynum is the biggest guy out there, and Kobe has been finding the open man when the defense over commits all Playoffs long.

I agree, however Those Lakers were undefeated at home prior to that as well and won 2 series without HCA. While the Pistons were barely getting by in the east. I am saying that Boston has a much greater chance of beating LA IMO than Detroit had of beating LA in 2004 going into the series.

The Celtics are an excellent road team and just played a bad game in game 1...it's not like they were exposed or the Lakers figured them out...they just had a bad game...I really don't expect it again...and I expect the C's to take this one...people overreact at every turn nowadays...

06-05-2010, 03:36 PM
gasol is right about garnett right now, he just doesnt look the same. i dont think boston has a chance in this series unless garnett really amps up his play in this series. but, it was only one game and boston has now seen what la has to offer. we'll see what adjustments they make. la is clearly a much more physical and better team than they were when they played boston in '08. i dont think boston can outmuscle them like they did a couple of years ago.

06-05-2010, 04:08 PM
Obvious enough, but this is a big game for both. If the, Celtics steal G2 tonight they go home for 3 and the Lakers know they have to win one in bean town. If the Lakers win, Boston realizes they will have to either win all 3 at home or two in LA. Tough task.

Why is it funny? The Lakers reminded us how good they are, and Boston really struggled. Did you not expect more people to start picking the Lakers? I'm sure that if Boston wins tomorrow, more people will pick them to win game 3. It's kind of how things go.

Oh no! Some people didn't think the Lakers would win. Now they do. Hahaha...that's so hilarious.

I didn't know that the Lakers had to remind people how good they are. Last time I check, they are defending champions and back in the nba finals for a third straight year. As far as the voting goes its basically Laker fans vs Boston fans and Laker haters. Thats basically how it usually goes.

I'll take the Lakers. They won game 1 pretty convincingly, and I don't see them having a let down game in Game 2. Kobe is too focused, and they're too good at home. It may not be as easy as game 1, but they'll still take it down.

For real. Instead of flipping up that reverse layup, Ray should have just dribbled baseline and kicked it back out up top and reset.

Simply put, that's why you don't have Shelden Williams on the court during the NBA finals. Even if guys have 3 fouls, unless they all end up fouling out, you're hurting your team by having them finish the game with less than 6 fouls and playing Shelden Williams for a significant period of time.
