Are Dwight and Lebron going to rule the Eastern Conference for the Next 6-8 Years?

Basically meaning one of them will be the ones in the finals for at least 66%-75% of the time?

Like 6 of 8 years or 4 of 6 years?

guess it really depends on what happens in Free Agency.

Who even knows if lbj will still be in the east. Even if he still is, there is no telling which other star will emerge.

If Lebron stays in the East, then yes, it will be Dwight vs Lebron for years to come... Wade, Rose and Wall might make some noise as well.

its too quick to say that a rookie will dominate a whole conference...

Dwight doesn't even rule the East now.

Yeah I know, it's not like he made the Finals last year and is poised to make a comeback from a 0-3 series to do it again...

If anything, Lebron doesn't rule the East, he just can't seem to win when it matters most.

Wade, once partnered with a top tier player like he is going to be this summer, will undoubtedly be the one running the conference along with LBJ (if he even stays in the East). I think that the disparity of weak centers to Dwight is only going to close over the next couple years, and his dominance will be less effective than it currently is.

Obviously this question won't be able to be properly answered until the summer is over, but my prediction is that D-Wade will be the one to watch out for. He's been stuck with horrible teammates for far too much of his career, people tend look past just how dominant he is.

It all depends how FA plays out cuz the league cud change after this summer.. ppl think bout the east but some of the west teams might make a push for some of the top players

^^^ correct

Howard and Wade I think more likely to stay put and stay in contention for that amount of time Howard I think is safest pick though

JasonJohnHorn

No way to tell. Teams can go from first to worst in a season sometimes, and free agency and trades and injury can all throw a wrench in the best laid plans.

So... no way to tell. For all we know both those players could end up playing in the western conference next year or not at all for that matter.

How is Dwight Howard going to rule the east? He can't even take on guys 1 on 1....

As for Lebron... it depends where he goes. If he gets Bosh then he will win at least 4 championships within 5 years.

Let's get over with the free agency first because it will cause major power changes over the league specially in the east. It's not the perfect time for this thread. Also, NOBODY can rule a conference without a formidable supporting cast. So pointing out just Lebron and Dwight at this point is just ridiculous.

dwight might develop his game but for lebron, i don't know how you can develop that killer instinct to push your team to win in the playoffs. last time i checked, they don't give out championship rings in the regular season, which is lebron's favorite part.

Rondo > Rose ; ]

He's their best player bud. Been their best throughout the season, and overall has been their best throughout the post season, although Pierce was great this past series. Dwight Howard is Rondo's kryptonite, but now that he's gone, look for him to shine as the best player once again.

So, if they win the ring this year -- then yes, 'as the best player'.

kg allen and peirce will have to retire at some point in time so in 3 years we will either see ronda fall flat on his face or he will be a superstar. so only time can tell.

Winning rings.

Well then you have to take Lebron off there, he's got 0 rings and disappeared when his team needed him most...

Rondo has been stellar, but playing with 3 future HOFers helps a lot.

He's not going to suddenly lose his ability to be the best defensive PG, his elite ball handling/passing skills, or the ability to slash to the rim and finish as well as any guard in the league. He's the teams engine at this point, and when the big three have retired he'll obviously need more help to step in their place for the team to continue its success, but he's going to be the same player.

The only difference you might see is that he'll be relied on more offensively, and will average 18-22 a game if he's taking 14-16 shots. That also depends if he can develop a consistent outside jumper/3pt shot. I think he's fully capable of it, so we'll see.

Disappear is a bit of a stretch when you're talking about a guy who put up a triple double with 19 rebounds (albeit too many TO's) in the game they needed him most this season. I guess that goes to show how legendary games have come to be the norm and expected from him, so if it doesn't include a top ten performance in history + a win, it's a fail. The only people who disappeared in that series were Mo Williams, Shaq, Jamison, and the rest of his supposedly "stellar" cast.

To be perfectly honest, I feel like after this summer is where we are truly going to see what he is made of.

I meant his Game 5 performance; 15PTS 3-14FG 0-4THR 9-12FT 6RBS 7ASTS 3PFS 3TOS

But since you're pointing out the elimination game, I'd like to add that he had 9 turnovers and shot 8-21 from the floor. Btw playing with an Amare, Bosh, Dirk, Wade or Yao wouldn't make me think any better of him. His cast was good enough, his coach was awful and his selfishness throughout the season cost them in the playoffs, again. Lebron won't settle for modest numbers, he wants to go down as one of, if not the, GOAT. If he played off-ball and/or less minutes in the season instead of trying to do everything and pad his stats, his team would actually learn to play better without him and they would show up more in the big games. The only thing Lebron proved to me, is that he isn't the best player in the league, not yet anyways.

Well that all depends who they are playing against because its the refs that decide games in the NBA these days. If they're on the team Stern wants to win, they'll dominate the East.

well, they are both now sitting at home. So the timing of the thread, coupled with we have no clue what conference LJ will be in next season, and I would say no.

I think you mean they both will be top 5 athletes of all time. Dwight is a long way off from being even mentioned as a possible top 5 player. He needs to make major strides in Offense

As to the thread it is quite possible
