This is typical Zach!!

INDIANAPOLIS -- An NBA player and former Marion basketball
standout has been implicated in an Indianapolis drug
investigation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a trusted police
informant identified Memphis Grizzlie player Zach Randolph
as a major marijuana supplier in Indianapolis, 6News' Jack
Rinehart reported.

Narcotics officers were staking out a suspected drug house
on Indianapolis' north side two weeks ago when they pulled
over Arthur Boyd, 32, soon after he left the residence, near
75th Street and Binford Avenue, police said.

According to the affidavit, the Cadillac Escalade that Boyd
was driving was registered to Randolph, and police found
marijuana and ammunition stowed inside.

"One of his vehicles had what we call hidden compartments
that contained suspected narcotics, that being marijuana,"
said Lt. Jeff Duhamell.

Based on information found in the Escalade, police later
raided a northeast side storage facility, where they said
Randolph rents four lockers.

According to the affidavit, a police K-9 alerted to
controlled substances in two of the four units, and police
found more cars with secret compartments inside.

Duhamell said he had been unaware Randolph was implicated in
the investigation.

"Whether he is a specific target, that I don't know," he
said. "But looking at his ownership of the vehicles, he
should be aware of whose driving and operating them and
possessing illegal narcotics in his vehicles. That in and of
itself brings up questions."

The police informant is also quoted in the affidavit as
having told investigators that Randolph was known to provide
individuals with expensive cars and access to his Geist
Reservoir waterfront home.

Randolph's attorney, John Tompkins, told 6News Wednesday
evening that Boyd worked for his client, and that Randolph
is not connected to any drug activity.

He said Randolph's vehicle has secret compartments as a
safety precaution for concealing valuables, and that police
have told him the vehicles are in the process of being
released.

Tompkins said the Memphis Grizzlies will release a statement
on Thursday in support of Randolph.

Randolph has a long criminal history. He was convicted of
battery and sentenced to house arrest in 1997, and spent
time in a juvenile detention center in 1999 for selling a
stolen gun.

Three years later, he was arrested on charges of underage
drinking, and faced charges in Portland after police said
they could smell marijuana coming from his car.

Randolph's latest arrest was in 2009 on charges of drunken
driving in Los Angeles.

The high school basketball star grew up in Marion and
attended Marion High School, where he helped lead his team
to the 2000 Class 4A State Championship.

After playing one season at Michigan State University,
Randolph was drafted in the first round by the Portland
Blazers and went on to play with the New York Knicks and the
Los Angeles Clippers before being traded to the Memphis
Grizzlies in July of 2009

JAIL:facepalm:...For selling a plant....hmmm...intelligent americans

disagree with the law all you want (i do), you can't get caught and be mad. the rules are clear.

he just has no reason to allow this. not sure if he knows what is going on (probably gets free weed in exchange for financing) but regardless you can't just let your boys run wild on your dime. too many of these guys make it and then get dumb. antoine, curry, zach, probably a dozen more that we dont know about.

i think there should be 1 and 2 year post hs graduate programs where players can go learn almost exclusively about money management. i like the liberal arts and all but these guys need to learn the basics before they get screwed.

"One of his vehicles had what we call hidden compartments

said Lt. Jeff Duhamell.

I've always disagreed with that categorization. Oh well, he's an idiot either way. Wish he never donned a Spartans uni

It shouldn't be illegal but it is. This can be more than just another black eye for Randolph.

What a dumb move. I'm in full support of legalization, but shame on him for trying to be a drug kingpin when he was already filthy stinking rich.

On a side note, I'd be interested to know what the pot looked like that he's moving. If it's the brown-frown, then the money it generates most likely helps fund some bad people.

This is why bud being illegal is so effen stupid. Look at all the time, man power, and money wasted on busting this up. All the while, the same people in this country that smoked out yesterday will smoke out again today, then do again tomorrow and so on. Make it legal!!

Dumb move given he's rich and could buy a house in a country where marijuana is legal and do all he wants. However....Legalize it. Why allow Mexican Cartels to get all the profits.

Zach Randolph's bad day continued on Thursday as his name has been linked to a late-night melee at a Los Angeles strip club.

A man named Gary Ferguson was reportedly beaten by someone in Z-Bo's posse, and it's not the first time it's happened to Ferguson. He sued Randolph last year, claiming he was attacked in a pizza restaurant in 2008.

It doesn't sound like Randolph threw any punches last night, but with the serious drug-related allegations being tossed around about him right now, it is interesting that he was in a strip joint in the middle of the night. Then again, this is the same dude who once chose to go to a strip club instead of his team's game while on bereavement leave. http://www.tmz.com/2010/05/27/zach-randolph-nba-memphis-grizzlies-attack-arrest-strip-club-fight-beatdown-police/

I guess Z-Bo hasn't really changed at all after all.

I love how it only takes NBA players about a month of offseason before a slew of them get pulled over for dope possession, DUIs, gunfights, brawls, etc.
