Six first quarter assists for KB.

He should keep that up. The Suns bigs are playing the most pathetic excuse for defense I've seen in a long time. Pau, Odom and Bynum should rape like this all game long. Any shot they can get is probably a better shot than what Kobe will take 50% of the time.

Lakers' bigs are 7-9. The Suns as a team are 9-20.

Channing Frye needs to park his butt on the bench.

The fact that he's taken 7 minutes from Amundson and Lopez is seriously a crime. He is doing nothing and they actually play some defense and rebound.

ManRam
05-19-2010, 09:58 PM
Any time the Suns get close, it's nothing more than Fool's Gold. They are totally outmatched. All they have is the three, and they aren't going to win with just that.

Steve Nash has been incredibly quiet too. Terrible.

They're not guarding Artest by design because of how bad he's been shooting but he's stepping up big time.

TheKing23

He's hit a couple of shots, but I swear Shannon Brown is one of the biggest black holes in the league (when it comes to role players at least).

Whenever he touches the ball I just expect him to hoist up a shot after dribbling around for a bit. It's not noticed that much because he's usually the 4th or 5th option on offense when on the floor so it doesn't happen often, but it's something that I noticed when he played for the Cavs and it's something i'm noticing the more I watch the Lakers.

iggypop123

Nine first half assists for KB.
Lakers are shooting 63% from three (7-11) and 57% from the floor (24-42).

After 6 quarters of postseason play vs. the Lakers, the Suns are giving up an average of 30.7 pts per quarter.

That kind of defense puts them on a trajectory to get swept.

? Kobe is having a great game. He is getting double every time he touches the ball and he's giving it up, resulting in his nine first half assists. What you mean to say is that his FG% isn't great.

I don't understand how Amar'e is sucking so hard at rebounding... The guy averaged 10.4 rpg over the last 28 games of the regular season.

DenButsu
05-19-2010, 11:19 PM
The Suns are going to give up 120+ poinst again in this game.

The bottom line for them is that they can't give up 30 points a quarter and win this series. As potent as Phoenix can be offensively, the Lakers defense is just too good to allow them to put up that kind of scoring and have any shot in hell of beating them.

This is either a sweep, or the Suns "steal" one game at home, unless they start finding a better defensive answer real damn quick.

Odom > Amare

I'm not sure I'd agree with that as an overall player, but he's sure outplaying him in this series, no question.

But in fairness, Amare is called upon by his team to carry a heavier load. He doesn't have a Gasol or Bynum in the frontcourt to take the pressure off his game.

But his defense in this series has been pure garbage, there are no two ways around that.

STARTERS MIN FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF +/- PTS

Amare , PF 41 7-14 0-1 4-7 3 3 6 1 0 2 5 5 -14 18

Pau Gasol, PF 44 11-19 0-0 7-10 3 6 9 5 1 2 3 2 +18 29

Lamar Odom, PF 33 7-10 0-0 3-4 3 8 11 4 3 1 2 3 +8 17

Andrew Bynum, C 18 5-5 0-0 3-4 3 4 7 0 1 0 1 4 -2 13

Amare just can't guard Gasol. It's almost as if Amare doesn't want to play defense or rebound, not that he's not capable.

Amare finishes with a +/- of -14. The worst of any Suns player.

Gasol dominates as the focal point of the offense against Amares pathetic D w/ 29-9-5.

Bryant has career play-off high in assists with 13.

Ron hits half his threes for 18 points

Bynum doesn't miss a shot, finishes with 13 and 7.

Laker bench finishes with 36 points. (17 and 11 for Lamar)

With all that being said the Suns made it a game up until the closing minutes, and were in the game right until the end. Dudley killed the Lakers.

suns is an all out offensive team. Lakers have been great on defense with the 2 other teams when those teams actually tried to play defense. Lakers are not going to give up close to that much when they play the celtics, however the lakers won't score as much as they are with the suns either.

Before the conference finals began, if you'd asked me, I'd have told you that I'd MUCH rather see an Orlando-Suns matchup.

But then, the way both those teams are playing now, neither really deserve to make it to the Finals, and at the end of the day I'd rather see the best, most deserving teams in there (regardless of hype and history).

I dont think it will though. The Suns can put up points against anybody and arent out of any game because of it, as we seen when the Show was up 14. The difference if the Lakers actually do meet the Celtics is that we wont have to cover the pick and roll as hard as we do against the Suns.

Agree.

People doesn't show enough respect to the two better teams actually, just because they hate them.

For example, even if I hate San Antonio and Detroit, they deserved to meet each other in 2005,so I was watching the Finals with respect instead of hating.

People just hate Boston and even more L.A,so they don't want to see them advance,Phoenix-Orlando in the Finals are you kidding me?

L.A-Boston this year would be a terrific opposition the way they both play actually, and very entertaining.

People,you have to admit it.

The one thing negative I have to say about Genry is what he told his players at the half. He was talking like the Suns were gonna go down anyways. You cant say " If we're to go down at least fight". That just shows your team thatyou dont have faith them to win for real. No more underdog stuff. the Suns deserve to be there just as much as the Lakers, so he needs to talk to them like it.

Theres nothing wrong with being realistic, everyone favored the lakers in this series, the lakers are the better team... Gentry understands this but he also understands the outcome of a series isn't always determined by the better team. Its the one who plays harder on both ends of the court.

I don't mind the layoffs, it benefits the Lakers greatly. They are somewhat banged up right now and need all the rest possible.

I agree completely. It levels the playing field, even though it sucks for the fans.

I believe that's part of the reason that the Celtics have been successful this playoffs. Three days rest between days allows coaches to play their older players 35+ minutes, while giving them plenty of rest so they can do it again next game.

Lakers and Celtics are definitely benefiting.

That is also why the bench doesn't matter as much as Suns fans were saying. Phil knew there were 3 days off after yesterdays game so he played Kobe 43 min and Gasol 44 min.
