To add insult to the Cleveland Cavaliers' perils, the team was fined twice by the NBA for wearing their alternate uniforms in the six-game series loss to the Celtics, according to a league source. The Cavaliers wore their wine throwbacks in Games 3 and 4, which is against an NBA policy that strongly suggests teams stick to one uniform during the playoffs or contact the league for approval if they decide to change.

The Cavaliers did not contact the league for approval and the NBA responded with a fine for the organization. The lone change the league approved was Phoenix's "Los Suns" jerseys for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinal against San Antonio.

The Celtics wore their black trimmed alternates several times during the season but have struck with the conventional green and white road uniforms for the playoffs.

Is there a reason why the Cavs couldn't wear one of their alternate jersey's? I mean they have like 10 of them.

So is this why the Bulls never wear their alternate black jersey in the playoffs?

Mmm, that's interesting.

I know during the regular season AND the playoffs the Lakers wear gold on the weekdays, and white on the weekends. If a Lakers home playoff game is on Sunday, they will wear white, but if it's like today (Monday), they will wear gold. I guess from that standard, LA is allowed to do so.

Haha. I hate the idea of not letting a team choose what Jersey they want to wear..Come on, seriously?

I knew there was a limit during the regular season of how many times you can wear an alt jersey, I never knew it applied to the playoffs though.

no problem with it. Politics have nothing to do with sports.

That's really ********! So what if the Cavs wore different alternate uniforms? They shouldn't be fined. If they wore jerseys that had dicks on them, then that would've been more reasonable, but caaaam on!

Why does the NBA make issues about stupid **** like this? Let them wear whatever they want, who cares. It's all about basketball in the end.

I was wondering why they were wearing their alternates in the games. I knew there was some weird reason teams didn't do that during the playoffs.

Definitely, have to agree here..Basketball is Basketball. If they wanted to play in Milk Crates, for God's sake, let them! It's the same at the end of the day.

I may have been exaggerating about the Milk Crates Part...

Why would they do this? More alternate jerseys shown means more jersey sold, meaning more money.

I have absolutely no problem with this. Playoffs are the best time of the year to promote merchandise, and they want to promote the main jerseys.

I agree. I can see if the Cavs wore their road jersey's at home, but to wear a road jersey on the road, I see no problem in that.

The alternate jerseys might actually be better sellers, because most fans already have the team's regular jersey.

This makes complete sense... You guys think that everyone tuning in is a REAL sports fan like us? Some people are watching dont even know what teams which teams are which. Having them see a "traditional" uniform helps clueless fans identify teams.

The whole issue is that the Cavs did not contact the NBA before hand you silly gooses;)

true. then they at least could announce that the cavs will be wearing those uniforms and they can mention it, and mention where you can buy it.

but still it's a stupid rule. next thing you know, they'll call technical fouls on players who have their shirts untucked.

But that is just silly though. I can understand if it was a brand new uniform that they never wore before.

Honestly guys it is a very very stupid rule, but I don't have that big of a problem with because: at least Stern is holding organizations to the same standards as he is his players. Players have to look like professionals wearing suits and not much of there jewelery so at least he is holding owners to the same standards.

That being said Stern is ********

No argument here. But the NBA has the right to make that call, and they made it, and it's their right to make it.
