what makes this official and what gives you the authority to make "the official" on any topic on this site, especially with only 212 posts (as of the time I posted this)

I am sick and tired of all these people calling something official....either quite of a few of you out there don't know what the word official means or have to lie and beg to get people to open your post.

I only posted this to ask this person the above question and make the comment below it.

This is my last time opening a topic that is called "the official" that is not made by a site administrator or moderator.

I hope the Utah Jazz don't win it or I'll hate Isiah thomas 10xxxxxx. I hope the sixers or maybe the hornets win it. If the hornets win it then they'll have to trade either paul or maybe collison

That would be ridiculous. Rubio can come to the NBA after next year and get traded to somewhere he wants to be. They also have Flynn and Sessions so that's two more PGs to move off the books. Minny has a ton of picks to move along with those 3 PGs. They might move one of them with Al Jeff to pick up another top pick to get a big man. I heard their front court had issues last year.

Lo Porto

My ideal top 4:

1. Philadelphia - Wall in Philly would be a great fit
2. Utah (via NY) - Utah deserves some draft luck
3. NJ - Favors or Cousins could fit with Lopez
4. Wolves - they could use either big that NJ passes on

SF-Corey Brewer
PF-Kevin Love
C-Al Jefferson.

Lottery Luck: The Nets previously won the No. 1 pick in 1990 (Derrick Coleman, when they held the most chances) and 2000 (Kenyon Martin, when they were 7th). Another 10 years have passed, so perhaps we know how this is going to go …http://www.nba.com/nets/news/Lottery_Preview_p1_100514.html

I hope Philly wins the lottery. That's the team that nobody is talking about and could use Wall the most. Watching Wall and Rondo square off for years would be pretty fun.

I hope that NJ, Was and Minny all miss out on #1. At some point, you just need to live with the PG you've already got.

Minny would have to take Wall. And then they could finally trade Rubio to NY like they should have done last year. I just hope that Wall goes to a team that has a hole at PG. GS, Was, NJ, and Minny don't need Wall.

Detroit has no star players. Every team has a star player besides Detroit. Look at your team (GSW), Curry is a star already. Maybe getting a seventh pick isn't so bad (didn't Curry go 7th)? I just know Detroit needs a make-over.

If they land the #1 pick, they either take wall and trade flynn or sessions, or they trade down to #2 and take Evan Turner. Because the Wolves drafted 3 PG's last year, people overreact and dont see what really happened. They took Rubio who was clearly the best player available at #5, then they took Flynn as insurance in case Rubio did what he did. When they took Lawson, they knew the whole time that he was going to be traded to Denver. The Wolves had 2 PG's this year...Flynn and Sessions. Rubio still cant come over for another year, so I'm sure their is room on this roster for John Wall, and either Flynn or Sessions would be traded...when Rubio comes in 2011, Rubio and Wall would share the backcourt, and either flynn or sessions would be the backup PG...it really isnt that bad or confusing of a situation, most people just want to make it seem like it is.

that pattern that you stated was created by McHale, McHale is no longer here, and David Kahn broke that pattern last year by taking the best player available with every pick he had...problem is people (other than wolves fans) thought that was a bad idea...I guess people just like to hate the wolves, no matter what they do.

The Wolves do not care what fits good in New York...

And everyone in the NBA would agree that having 3 elite PG's makes a bad GM. And everyone would also agree that Wall is a must have over Rubio. My only point was that Minny should trade Rubio if they get #1, and NY would be the best fit for Rubio. I don't know how that trade would happen, but Chandler and a future 1st isn't a bad start.

And Rubio might never come to the NBA if Minny doesn't trade his rights. He passed on them already. He could do it again.

Please explain to me which one of the PG's the wolves have that is elite. I have never seen elite PG play in Minnesota, the closest thing was Sam Cassel. Also, Rubio didnt really pass on us, he just made a smart financial decision. It would have been very hard for him to get out of that buyout, he basically would have had to whore himself to Sponsorships

How is NY the best fit for Rubio? They have literally no team. Why not Phoenix with an aging Nash or Sacto with a dominant SG who could use a pass-first PG? ...or any number of other places who can offer more than MSG and D'Antoni.

Here's the thing with Rubio "passing on Minnesota":
His buyout was ridiculously high and he'd have to cover all but $500,000 of it, meaning he would make very little money in the NBA at first as a member of a losing team or he can wait two years, build up his Euro resume and skillset, drive his buyout down to 1 mil while making decent money and wait for the wolves to get further along in the rebuilding process so he can step in and win right away.

Not to turn this into another Rubio forum. Please everyone get back to lotto talk.

I don't know what the trade would be, but I think Rubio is a perfect fit in NY.

cool. But why would the Wolves trade him to NY? If the Wolves get the #1, I am sure they would trade Rubio for Gallo and Chandler. Sound fair?
Point is, the Knicks can't package fair value, so saying they SHOULD trade him to the Knicks is ridic

First off, the Rubio not coming needs to be dropped. Find me a direct quote saying he said he won't play for the Wolves (while in reality, he has had dinner with Kahn on numerous occasions, and has never said anything but positive things about the Wolves), or drop the ****.
Second, the Wolves could care less about finding the best fit for Rubio. They would be looking for the most value. Would you give a **** about what a player who has never played for you wants, or where he wants to go?
Chandler my ***. The trade would need to revolve around Gallinari, and more

You take Wall. You trade either Flynn or Sessions, whomever has the most value. You play Wall off the ball as much as possible to see what he can do. And then figure it out later.

On paper(and in real life) the Pistons are one of the worst teams in this years lottery. Every team has a franchise guy except us...I already think the lottery is rigged, I just hope they take this into consideration. I don't care if we have too many guards, if we get 1 or 2 I'll gladly take Wall or Turner.

And btw I think the NBA should completely get rid of the lottery drawing crap. just make a tournament for all the teams that missed the playoffs(kinda like the NIT). separate them by conference and let them play for the 1st overall pick...forget the best of 7 just make it win or go home (1 game series).

Are we all supposed to feel bad for Detroit? You guys just won a championship a couple years ago and traded your franchise player for capspace.

If you really thought your team was that bad, why would you then propose a tournament which favors the best of the worst. Being that your team plays in the east, i guess you don't realize the best lottery team in the west is barely out of the playoffs.

Not trying to be mean (though it may sound like it), but I am vehemently against your sentiments.

no disrespect at all

the only reason I suggest a NIT style v. a closed door lottery determination is because we just don't what the hell is going on back there. The only thing they show are the envelopes with the team(for all we know they could have placed it in the order of their liking).

And no you shouldn't feel sorry for the Pistons, the NBA should :p

The actual Lottery procedure will take place in a separate room prior to the national broadcast with NBA officials and representatives of the participating teams and the accounting firm of Ernst & Young in attendance.

Following the drawing, team logo cards will be inserted into envelopes marked 1 through 14 by an Ernst & Young representative. These envelopes then will be sealed and brought on-stage, where the announcement of the Lottery results will be made by NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver. A second representative from each participating team will be seated on-stage. Neither the Deputy Commissioner nor the team representatives will be informed of the Lottery results prior to the opening of the envelopes.http://www.insidehoops.com/nba_draft_lottery.shtml

Even if they did it live, I don't think it would be entertaining. You just get a bunch of balls in a sequence but you don't know what they mean until they look it up on the computer. Cards in envelopes are cool .

But surely having a tournament to decide who gets the number 1 pick would completely go against what the lottery stands for?

The teams that are just missing out on the playoffs would be stockpiling talent whereas teams like the Nets and Timberwolves would be stuck at the bottom of the NBA forever with no hope of acquiring franchise players through the draft because they'd have no hope of winning the tournament.

Interesting fact.. I don't know if this has been posted but wth.

I'm watching M&M earlier and it says on the ticker that on the Draft Lottery's history, only 4 teams with the highest percentage have ever won the lottery. I do understand that it is a lottery, but with most of the balls belongs to one team, isn't kinda surpising that only 4 teams have won it?

These teams are.. their pick and probability.

1988 - Clippers - Manning - 14.3%
1990 - Nets - Coleman - 16.7%
2003 - Cavs - Lebron - 22.5%

Blake Griffin impresses in workout for Clippers
PRO BASKETBALL
The expected No. 1 pick shows off his skills but still needs to work on his shot.
June 07, 2009|Lisa Dillman
The Lake Show and the Blake Show.
One was in El Segundo on Saturday, and the other followed later in the afternoon at Playa Vista. The former involved the Lakers, operating in the present, and seemingly the first team to be handed an NBA championship after one game in the Finals.

The latter, an open workout, represented a step into the future for the Clippers and Blake Griffin, the 6-foot-10 power forward they said they would take with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft this month.
These events were neatly paired to take advantage of the presence of the national media here for the NBA Finals, to show off the Clippers' swank practice facility and to show off the national college player of the year from Oklahoma in front of 100-plus on- lookers, consisting of media, season-ticket holders and sponsors.
Usually, pre-draft workouts involving individual players are shrouded in mystery. Transparency had its benefits: Griffin displayed a quick first step, impressive athleticism, nifty ballhandling skills for a big man and an engaging, low-key sense of humor after his 63-minute session.
Of course, there's the other side of transparency: Griffin's misfiring jump shot. It was a byproduct, perhaps, of nerves but sure to be over-analyzed in this era of instant analysis.
The interesting thing about Griffin was that his displeasure with his shot happened to be among the first words he uttered once the cameras and tape recorders moved in to surround him.
"It felt all right. I wish I could have shot a little better," he said. "I was a little tight out there. But overall it felt good. . . . I'd really like to just come in and fill a gap that they don't have. They have a great cast of veterans and a great group of young guys. I think we can definitely turn it around and start winning."
This was the first time Clippers General Manager and Coach Mike Dunleavy had seen Griffin play in person. Neil Olshey, Dunleavy's assistant GM, had seen him four or five times in the last college season.
"There are certain things on his shot that he'll need to work on to get better at, which he will do," Dunleavy said. "Clearly, he shoots the ball well enough from the mid-range that he has be guarded."
What was reinforced Saturday was that Griffin could also play small forward, another credible option after Al Thornton.
The glut of Clippers big men has led to speculation that one of them will be moved because there simply won't be enough minutes to go around ("The math isn't great," Dunleavy said).
There have been continued questions about trading the pick. Dunleavy was asked whether the Clippers had told teams to quit calling.
"You can never say never about anything," he said. "I don't know who the players are in this league who may fit that category. Obviously, if the word 'LeBron' was spoken by anybody, the door would open, clearly.
"Most of the time a pick like this, 99.9% of the time you would keep it."
This was also an opportunity to get to know Griffin off the court for the Clippers. Griffin mused that they took him to the best steak place in Los Angeles but he, no longer a meat eater, opted for the salmon. He also politely answered many questions by saying, "Sir."
The meaning of going No. 1 on June 25 in the draft in New York had not quite hit Griffin.
"Not yet. It would mean a lot," he said. "It's something I've dreamed about since I was old enough to know what the NBA was. For it to be so close, it's kind of surreal."

Anybody but Minnesota please! They've already made a blundering debacle of the lottery last year, if they got the #1 pick it'd be a pure waste...

Im going for the Clipps!

please enlighten me on how the Wolves made a blundering debacle of the draft last year.

Rubio the next jason kidd

Evan Turner a Better Brandon Roy

Rubio isn't even close to jason kidd at all! rubio isnt very good Euro league he's averaging 6.8PPG 4.1APG 1.2SPG 2.9RPG im 100% convinced Rubio isnt very good

Can't wait for the Nets to get the #1 pick. Sadly the NBA nowhere near as popular as it once was and $tern knows this which is why he's been desperately trying to globalize the sport. What better way then to have John Wall jerseys all over Moscow.

so you dont think stern has fixed the lottery in the past? look as a bulls fan, i know it was fixed for us to get the number 1 pick in 2000 and 2008, also 1985 with the knicks folder bent, go look at that video, you cant deny that. its not hard to fix when no cameras are allowed inside the ping pong room and the only witness is a guy who works for stern.

Yes, I can deny it. It's a lottery for a reason. Even if the Bulls had less than a 2% chance (I think that's what it was in 08) it's still a chance.

There's no evidence that anything is ever fixed, and I seriously believe in its integrity.
