View Full Version : Will Shaq Retire?

I remember reading that shaq would love to end his career in LA. He's a free agent. He and Lebron didnt work out and Lebron is probably leaving cleveland. Without Lebron Cleveland will be a lottery pick next year so i highly doubt he will stay in cleveland. Money wont be an issue with shaq. He will sign for minimum to play with a winner. His best years were with LA so why not retire a Laker? He's probably got one or two years left in him. Shaq is still a good fit for the triangle system because hes a great passer. My only problem is that will be an awfully old team next year. Talented but kinda old, especially if Fisher comes back too

As a Faker hater, I can only pray that Shaq goes to LA to make the Lakers significantly worse. But honestly I think Shaq is done.

How could you think Shaq is done? He wants to play, and while his numbers certainly are no longer "Shaq-like", there are lots of half-court teams that I'm sure would welcome him with open arms. Even if he isn't scoring, he still demands frequent double teams, which gets open shots. And he still has a great ability to draw fouls and put the other team's bigs in foul trouble early.

If he's willing to back up Bynum, I'd love to have him on the Lakers. But if Shaq wants to play, he's going to have a place to play.

PS: Shaq said recently he wants to play to 41.

Shaq would play for cheap. His wallet his stable. But his ego isn't. Truth is he'd have to back up Bynum. He wont want to do that. He's not going to LA. He's going to Dallas....Maybe my beloved Jazz can bring him in. That'd be sweet. It would be nice to have a real center. Havent had one of those in quite some time.

If he'd be willing to come off the bench, they'd get a lot deeper.

The Big Diesel is 37 years old and did not look good this year in Cleveland. Does he have anything left in the tank to help any team that might be looking to contend? Or does one of the greatest big man to ever play in the game call it a quits and walks into the hall of fame?

I hope someone tells him to retire, it's just a shame watching him play now. Same as TD seeing those guys get old and be a shell of there former selves is sad. Although TD i think still can play for a couple of more yrs

shaq had his moments this year

mark my words.

he will sign with LA for the vets minimum. for maybe 2 or 3 years
come off the bench and play like 15-17 mins a game
lead the second unit
maybe 20 mins iff bynum or gasol are in fould trouble
would be a GREAT starting backup for when bynum is injrured (which always happens)
then he will retire his number 34 jersey

shaq KNOWS the triangle. he will play sooo much better if he comes back to LA. he'll find so many open players for open shots.
time to use kobe to get rings like how kobe had to use shaq.. maybe not as much as kobe needed shaq tho

now we just need to find a way to get kirk hinrich

Shaq will be the Brett Favre of the NBA

He's really a shell of his former self.

Serviceable backup, but nothing more. He's too slow to be a starter. He isn't versatile at all. His defense is lacking.

It's sad to watch.

Shaq should retire but he won't, I could see him going a few more years.

ManRam
05-15-2010, 10:45 AM
He won't, and nor should he.

He's still servicable, and in an era like right now, where big, strong...and frankly just good centers are few and far between, he is still a commodity. He'd back a good back up on most contending teams.

Serviceable is really all it takes these days if you're a center.

he or Jo would be a nice back-up for drew nxt season..

macc
05-15-2010, 11:07 AM
He won't retire because he's already said he wants to play two more years, my guess is he waits till the major free agents go to their respective teams and then jumps on the one thats most stacked.

Purch

"Of course," he said. "I missed 360 games because of injury in my career, so by my calculations I still have 3.7 years left. That means I'm going to play until I'm 41. I've been here 17 years but I've missed a lot of games, so I still feel I can play this game."

Hes interested in playing for the Nets. But how willing would he be to come off the bench and give way to a younger guy and teach him the ropes?

Lakersho
05-15-2010, 12:07 PM
he would be a good 10 or 12 min backup thats about it...
