What the hell ever happened to the class of 2000's? There was Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, and Gilbert Arenas who were great shooting guards. Now there's only three, Kobe, Wade, and Roy. In my opinion, they're the most exciting to watch. There's a ***** load of good point guards! The hell happened?

same thing happened in the 90's. There was Jordan, Drexler, bout it. Remember how awesome the PF position was at that time as well? KG, Duncan, Brand, Webber, McDyess, etc.

Well Evans will be a great SG soon so you can add him to the list.

Joe Johnson,Tyreke Evans,Kevin Martin,Evans Turner(future),Andre Iguodala,RayRay,hell even JRich is killing it in the playoffs. There are all good but not great. I see Tyreke and maybe Turner as a future superstar,Reke maybe next year.

Kobe, Wade, Roy, Johnson, Ginobili, Carter, Allen, Iguodala, Gordon, Richardson, Redd, Hamilton, Martin, McGrady, Bell....I think there are still some good shooting guards, they just play a different style now.

You've got an influx of bigs taking ranged shots and even more emphasis on wingers who can shoot from distance. The 2 guards are still there, their production is just somewhat taken up by effective scorers at other positions.

Good thing Kobe and Wade make up for like 10 SG's. :p

Manu makes four. Why do people name inferior players like J-Rich or Kevin Martin before him?

Well, we went from a league that didn't have many good PG's or 3's to a league that has some of the most talent at PG's and 3's of all time. That said, the Center position has never been worse, and you're right SG and even PF are pretty slim. Just a random cycle, I don't really think there's any rhyme or reason to it. Could be wrong though; if someone could enlighten me I'm all ears.

It's called cycling through talent
It's pretty much a trend everything does, even outside of sports

Oh, i thought we were discussing guards who have dirt on their head coach and trade playing time for not spilling the beans

there are plenty of players that are sg that are legit as named prior.. the real disappearence has been the loss of a post up game for big men.. you cant throw the ball downlow to a big man and say get me a basket.. im not atlking about a stepback midrange jumper like a ewing robinson hakim olajuan kalr malone

bogut, gasol, duncan, thats all coming to mind
