"Free agency is going to be what it is. I want to play three, four more years, but I want to play and have the opportunity to win a championship. I want to be on a team that can win and win now," O'Neal said.

"I've been in all-star games, All-NBA, Nike commercials, and everything I accomplished is individual stuff. But, right now, to feel validated, I want to play with a championship-caliber team for the next three or four years."

This guy has some nerve.

He had one of the worst playoffs ever for a guy that was a star and he is talking about playing for a contender?

Houston could use a backup... but do I really want a guy that got benched for Joel Anthony???

Hawkeye15
04-29-2010, 04:48 PM
coming off that performance, I would say any team that has him in the game is NOT a contender.

Jonathan2323
04-29-2010, 04:49 PM
I can't even begin to tell you how much this guy sucked in the playoff. the only way i would bring him back is on a vet min deal and as a back-up.

doubt if any contender is willing to sign jo after his abysmal playoff performance. got to bring something to the table basketball wise for a contending team to sign him.

Gibby23
04-29-2010, 04:56 PM
Just think how bad Bird could have messed up the Lakers if he traded him for Bynum, Kwame and fillers, or Odom and fillers. The only reason it didn't happen was because he wanted odom and Bynum.

ATX
04-29-2010, 05:00 PM
Can you believe he made over 23 million this season??? Somebody will overpay for him, but he ain't worth much. Certainly less than the MLE. I'm so glad he'll most likely be out of Miami.

abe_froman
04-29-2010, 05:01 PM
i bet he would, who wouldnt..the problem is that no contender would want him

Bruno
04-29-2010, 05:03 PM
Maybe if you showed up in the first round and divide your current salary by six you could/would have had a chance. I can't believe the Lakers almost traded Odom and Bynum for him.

drama1386
04-29-2010, 05:04 PM
i'd take him as a backup only and at the vet min.

SteveNash

Jermaine's a quality player who got injured at the end of the offseason. A team that picks him up will be lucky to have him.

Derick713
04-29-2010, 05:15 PM
Jermaine O'Neal has some nerve. Hopefully he take less money to be a role player like Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess. At least next season he won't be making 23 million. The guy couldn't even be the number 2 D-Wade needed.

wtf are you smoking. Injured at the end of the off season???? this guy just flat out sucked. No part of his weak *** play was contributed to injuries. You need to put that crack pipe down.

All the excuses I'm hearing are fans trying to blame anyone but Wade for not getting the job done.

Venomous88
04-29-2010, 08:18 PM
He basically skated this whole season and cost us the series, and now he says he wants to play for a contender lol. Ironically, we will be a contender next season we will have the money thanks to his expired contract to sign Bosh and some role players.

Good luck JO looking for any team to pick you up.

Daze9900
04-29-2010, 08:35 PM
He would fit right in San Antonio and Phoenix. My Knicks should go after him.

JB, stop posting smilies for posts like that man, its really annyoing.

Anyway, idc about his performance against Boston, he can cleary still contribute to a team, he will be a great bench player for a contender, you can't say some of those scrubs on the Laker bench is better than Jermaine Onea'l. He isn't a legit starter anymore, but can still contribute big time to any team.

smith&wesson
04-29-2010, 08:45 PM
if JO was smart, he would resign with miami for less then the midlevel and open cap space for the heat to get another star for wade to play along side of and jo would then be on a contending team.

Miltown34
04-29-2010, 08:47 PM
guys say that but will he take a 2 year deal worth 3-4 mil a season and be a backup to play 20 min a game. Usually people say that but don't sacrifice

kblo247
04-29-2010, 09:00 PM
Lets all stop the bull **** and admit that the guy hyperextended his knee right before the season was over. He played piss poor in the playoffs, but before hurting that knee he was playing well.

There are a short list of teams that I can think of who will take him.

Lakers - Bynum's backup, allowing Pau to play PF primarily and Lamar to get minutes behind Pau as well as Luke's SF time with that back problem of his. Lamar would get his time still and Kobe wouldn't have to play primary backup SF so much. They need a 4th big with the way Bynum has gotten hurt so that Lamar and Pau won't be trying to play 40mins every year for a prolonged stretch.

Spurs - He would start next to Duncan and prolong both of their careers by being the center and protecting the basket.

Suns - He would be the starting center on that team over Lopez and Frye if that medical staff got him healthy like they did with Shaq and Hill.

Dallas - Haywood and Damp both might leave and both at their best still aren't better than JO when healthy. He would bring a 2 way center. He also knows and understands what their coach wants

Houston - Yao is coming back next year but he could and should be limited minute wise. JO as his backup would be like the Shaq/Z tag team of the east. Hayes can backup Scola.

Charlotte - They need a damn center. Not Theo, Chandler, or Nazr. JO can be just that.

Knicks - depending on who they sign, they will need to fill out the roster

Jazz - could very well lose Boozer and Okur could be out for a while. He could be their Camby like fill in.

OKC - need a vet presence and big at a decent price.

Indiana - he could return home to where he made his name and play over Hibbert with ease.

Cavs - Z and Shaq could both be gone and you better believe they aren't that much in love with a Andy/Hickson/Jamison front court for a whole season.

Denver - were looking for size and with the way Kenyon and Nene have been injured in recent years they would be foolish not to make an offer if they can get him at a cheap price.

There are definitely teams that can use his services. The price tag will not be any where close to the same, but lets not be foolish and act like he can't help a couple of teams out.

Guys, why you hating? He just wants a ring like every other player. Yes, he may not be as productive as before, but that doesn't take out of the fact that he deserves a ring. I could say the same for Michael Redd, Elton Brand, Iverson, etc.

04-29-2010, 10:44 PM
Why is everyone treating him likes he's garbage he averaged 13.6 6.9reb 1.9 blocks and only missed 12 games. He had a bad series but its okay if he's on a cotender he doesn't need to play a huge role. If LeBron stays in cleveland id take him. They are going to need big men because big z might retire. And id rather have a 32 year old jermaine than a 38 year old shaq. He's not that bad because he had an off series

homestarunner93
04-29-2010, 10:47 PM
We will take him in Charlotte for a partial/full MLE. He's better than Tyson, Theo, and probably Nazr too. You know he would want to come back home too, Charlotte is a little over an hour from Columbia.
