Can we draw this comparison or is it unvalid?

No, Thunder are better and have a top 3 player on their team.

What? 66-16 to the lakers 57-25, a healthy big three with the best role player in the league (james posey). LOL, nope kobe's team will always be superior.

i forgot about that. lol. naw but i dont think the 07-08 celtics could beat the 09-10 lakers. or the 08-09 lakers.. durant>hawks.

I think it's a very valid comparison.

Thunder and Lakers are only separated by 7 games

Celtics and Hawks were separated by 29 games

Hawks were under .500 too. Thunder won 50 games, and have the leading scorer in the NBA and a top MVP candidate in Kevin Durant.

Celtics also won every home game in blowout fashion. Lakers/Thunder has been close, well except for the past 2 games

Or it could be like NJ vs Philly in 1984 when Philly was coming off a title in 1983 and then they proceeded to go down in round 1 the next year to a team that hadn't been in the playoffs in years.

Nobody expected anything from the Hawks, everyone expected the Thunder to be swept... The situations are very comparable IMO

It will if the Thunder take it to 7

there was more ppl who thought that the Thunder would upset. Simply cause the Lakers stumpled into the playoffs and Celtics were just world beaters that year.

The comparison is totally valid. The match-ups make this a tough match for the Lakers, but they'll still win. Kevin Durant is a better player than anyone on the Hawks by far, but both the teams are young and athletic, and playing against older contenders.
