CLEVELAND (AP) -- Own like Mike? Cavaliers star LeBron James could see himself following idol Michael Jordan into NBA ownership.

James, whose path to superstardom has followed a similar trajectory as Jordan's, said Tuesday night before Cleveland faced Chicago in Game 5 of the playoffs that he would "love" to someday own an NBA team. Jordan assumed ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats in March, buying the club for $275 million from Bob Johnson.

"I would love to be in that position," James said. "It's a great position to be able to own a team and be able to put pieces together and make decisions."

The 25-year-old James, who has made savvy business decisions since joining the league, said he understands the challenges of ownership.

"It's definitely a tough job," said James, the league's reigning MVP, who is almost certain to win again. "But I love the game and I know talent. If an opportunity presents itself later on in my life, then I will try."

whats wrong with lebron wanting to own an nba team. he should have enough money to at least be a part owner when he retires.

What's wrong with that?

He would attract other players in the future to play in his team too.

I would love to own an NBA team too, who wouldn't?

Being a wannabe and a ? Whoever thinks on that way will not be very rich in the future. Is it his fault if he wants to be richer and live the "American Dream?" He's a young man who is making himself richer, just like how this country was created. Don't get me wrong, I hate him for beating my Bulls but I won't judge him as a "wannabe" just because he is taking the right steps on his life. Look at his holdings, you'll see that he is a smart smart man. Would you rather see him go down just like Barkley?

You are wrong about this part. I support Curry because he is a Golden State Warriors player. I am a Monta Ellis fan

If he really wants to own a team he should stay in Cleveland. I wonder if there is a way to circumvent the Salary Cap and promise him a share of the team.

Trust me I am from MN I completly understand this not working out.

I guess I was thinking that since everyone thinks Lebron needs to go to NY to make money in endorsments, this could be incentive to stay. Obviosuly Cleveland will need to pay him a max deal, but maybe there is a wink and a nod that at sometime Lebron will become a partner in the team after his career.
