Do you think teams sometimes lose to extend the playoffs?
For example if teams sweeps that means millions of dollars lost in revenue, but lets say they purposefully lose a game and the series shifts back to their home court where they get more money.

(sort of like the missed ft of ray allen and kg)

Tanking for a pick?Maybe.

Purposely losing to risk winning it all?No.

btw, Ray Allen tried to miss on purpose one game to try to get the rebound in the regular season, but badly missed, this doesn't seem like he was trying to do anything but make it in.

ehhh i dont think so, i dont think they care about the money the league is getting, because they are getting their paycheck regardless of the outcome

all they want is a title in the quickest way possible

but that money for 1 more game can pay off so much, i mean is the team is sure to win, like the cavs or have a opportunity to sweep lie the celtics losing on purpose wouldnt be saying losing the entire series

no way. Too much risk as far as injury, and wear and tear. There are a lot of teams who barely made it thru 82 games, and are doing anything possible to keep their vets from keeling over. And then the injury thing, on top of giving momentum to the other team and losing a series you shouldnt have

Purposefully losing in the playoffs? No way.

If that does happen the NBA is officially a script.

You think KG wants to get risk getting more hurt? They also want to rest to prepare for the next round.

I cant think of a time in my life where I have seen a team lose on purpose to bring things back to their own home court for extra revenue, or for any reason.

If a team lets another team win, and get back in the series and potentially knocks them out of the playoffs because of it, then they lose the potential revnue in the following round. And merchandise sales increase throughout the playoffs for teams that do well.

I cant think of a player in the league that would want to lose on purpose.

no. exactly what money would the organisation get? lets presume they have one more home game with 18500 people attending...lets say the average price for a ticket is $150 they would make 2,775,000 for that game.
well...1) that's not even enough to cover freakin' Sheed's paycheck (in Boston's case)
and 2) who would get that money?? the people who run the building they're playing in??
does anyone know how much of ticket sales the franchise gets?? some information about that..anyone???

Definitely not for the playoffs. The celtics out of any other team could use the rest.

No they dont lose on purpose, but refs do get into games on purpose if you dont realize refs jump into games to help the league refs can change a game in less then 5 minutes with bad calls Tim Donaghy is a perfect example you gotta be a fan of Pro Wrestling and still think its real if you think refs dont get into games

Players NO
REFS YES

in the playoffs, HELL NO.

If a good team like the Lakers wanted to make more money they could lose games in order to host more home games in the series. I don't think it happens but it could.

Interesting you say this, my dad just said the same thing to me and I was like "No way would they take that risk in the playoffs!" I don't really know though.
