View Full Version : Report: Amare Stoudemire to re-sign with Suns

A report that Amar'e Stoudemire is working on a contract extension with the Phoenix Suns is more bad news for the free agency-or bust Knicks.

Stoudemire told Fanhouse.com he is working on a new deal and you have to think that should the Suns advance to the second round - a virtually certainty - that Stoudemire will return.

The problem with pursing big-time free agents is that the home town team almost always has the advantage. Manu Ginobili already re-signed with San Antonio and Marcus Camby re-upped in Portland.

If Stoudemire does return to Phoenix, there is a good chance that either Chris Bosh or Carlos Boozer will end up in Miami. It also means the chances of David Lee returning to the Knicks increases, although the sense is that Donnie Walsh doesn't want to spend more than $10 million per season on Lee.

Again, look on the bright side. LeBron still hasn't re-signed with Cleveland. Not yet.

What is it with you people saying Chris Bosh will be in Miami next year?

Yes, I know, there is a possibility. However, he could also play in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Oklahoma City or Toronto next year. Chris Bosh has stated he wanted his team to build around him. I don't see that happening if he were to join the Heat, Bulls or Thunder. If the Knicks don't sign any other big name free agent, I could see them building around Chris Bosh.

Also, I'm pretty sure the man would like a max contract. Toronto is the only team in the NBA that could offer him the most money. Not to mention, he's in love with the city and is very comfortable playing here.

It happens every single off-season: the off-season looks so great all year, or even for years...but when it actually happens, it underwhelms everyone.

For all the hype the summer of 2010 has gotten, it's going to fail to live up to expectations.

Really tempted to drop a then don't watch, but I'll refrain from subjecting you guys to that. I think we all knew that the summer of '10 was never gonna live up to the hype and that the only movers would be Bosh, Boozer, JJ and some second-tier FAs.

I think the biggest free agent moving is Rudy Gay.

I think everyone stays on their team and the Knicks get desperate so they offer Gay the max.

yep.

It's pretty rare for those big deals to happen. And I just really don't think that Lebron, Amare or Bosh are going anywhere. If Bosh goes somewhere else, it's via sign&trade GUARANTEED. So whoever gets him is gonna pay.

Also, why would Boozer leave? Utah is good. There's a chance for a title there.

Also, why would Boozer leave? Utah is good. There's a chance for a title there.

heres my take on Boozer. Out of all the teams with cap, there isnt a more perfect team for him than Utah. None of the teams have a better PG than Utah, better coach than Utah, can pay more than Utah, play with a style that suits Boozer as Utah do or are better teams than Utah.

The only outside factor that I think will make him leave is that he lives in Miami with his family in the offseasons. Thats why I was happy with Miami seeming to think they had Amare already signed. For me Boozer either stays or goes to Miami, but with Miami saying they covet Amare and Bosh more than Boozer I think theres a good chance of Boozer staying granted we want him/willing to pay him, which could also be an issue.

i just dont see it. the two teams that look the most appealing is the heat and the bulls. you have wade and miami. then you have rose, noah, deng, and others and it is chicago. all the knicks have going for them is the city. i mean even though you have room for two max contracts, who else are you gonna surround them with? i mean if lebron comes (which i dont see it happening) you might get a guy or two that takes a pay cut to come over. besides that, i dont see it really happening.

Care to re-think this? The Heat can afford 3 max contracts and another 2 million. Assuming Boozer will get 10-13 mill a year, the Heat can sign those 2, get 3 rookies, bring back rio and anthony have 4+ million + all the min deals you can eat ;).

That said, really don't want Boozer...

Really wanted Amare, so we'll see. Maybe we'll deal for Iggy and sign felton and a decent center.

Was that the deal?

Some people (including some HEAT fans) seem to think it depended on a 1st round pick being added by Miami, which didn't want to do so.

I am not convinced at all that there was an actual trade opportunity like that. I think it was just wild rumours flying around again like usual.

It would be a stupid move by Amare if he resigned with the Suns without testing the free agency market. Money would be the one and only reason to justify it. The Suns always supposedly contend, but never truly do. That team will never be more than what it is now and what it has been in recent years. With some of the other Western teams on the move up the only way for them to go is down.

Was that the deal?

The Heat did not put Beasley on the table...

Reportedly, the Heat were offering Mario Chalmers, Daequan Cook, Quentin Richardson and Udonis Haslem with 1 1st round pick.

The Suns wanted the Heat to take back one of Barbosa or J-Rich and they wanted our other 1st round pick (not sure if it was one or the other or both they wanted).

Apparently Riley made it known for the start he wasn't going to give Beasley for Amare and supposedly Kerr is not too high on Beasley.

Anyway, we'll see...I'm not too ready to determine he's going back...Still think there's a ton of scenarios that would have him leaving either by S&T or otherwise.

Derick713
04-26-2010, 04:01 AM
I still don't understand why Bosh wouldn't pick the Bulls over the Heat. The Raptors are more inclined to accept a sign and trade offer from the Bulls than the Heat. I have to think that Taj Gibson and James Johnson are more tempting than Beasley. The Bulls also have a higher 2010 1st Round Pick.

Btw, this is a misleading thread's title Jordansbulls. As a mod you should know better and be more carefull with this.

Because maybe you can get it into your thick head that Bosh would rather be in Miami than Chicago? You know, with Wade and another $10M player or another max-ish free agent.

Bosh is the one who decides, not Toronto. Maybe Bosh thinks the Bulls suck giant donkey balls? Or maybe not. We will just have to wait and see won't we?

Well I think Amare will wait now. What happens if Portland comes back to win this series?

Not sure if this was posted earlier, but here's, apparently, the latest.

Alan Hahn spoke with Amaré Stoudemire's agent who indicated that discussions with the Suns on a contract extension are currently on the back burner.

"Nothing will happen or even be discussed until the playoffs are over," Happy Walters said, because Stoudemire "is 100 percent focused on winning."

On an unrelated note about this summer's free-agency, Hahn reports that "more people in the NBA believe there is a greater chance that Joe Johnson stays in Atlanta than LeBron James stays in Cleveland."

Bottum line, the player that goes to NY is a loser. NY -"Where winning isnt happening for a very long time". WHo every goes there is just going for a paycheck, not to win. I could have invisioned STAT doing that. NY is an expansion team. I mean they have no one worth talking about since they will let Lee walk. Two all-stars wont be enough to get them back into contending for a championship. A SUPERSTAR (and there are only 5 - KOBE-LBJ-WADE-MELO and you have to include Durantula) and two allstars will, two SUPERSTARS WILL, but not just two allstars.

THe KNICKS get used as leverage this summer, ALL SUMMER BY;

Bosh, although he obviously doesnt like change, knows he cant stay in TORONTO if he wants to win. Turk is on life support, whos the pg up there again? barganyanni is a four not a five. No american born FA wants to move to canada (I said WANTS, didnt say none would), the two gaurd is nonexistant. SUPERSTARS are not going to CANADA- just not going to happen. BC neededs to create the "ALL -WORLD - US" team up there by signing the best foreign players he can find. WHo can honestly say that they see the raps in the finals - even witsh BOSH? I just cant...
If he were smart he would get that S&T to LAL or go to chicago since chicago is better at the 1,3,and 5 then MIA, and equal at the 4.
