For the record I feel the same about the Yanks and God Bless America. I understand doing it right after 9/11, but its been 9 years. Time to put it to rest.

every 7th inning right?

I kind of think Tony was trying to end that game without being obvious about it. Felipe Lopez and Joe Mather pitching? Kyle Lohse in LF? Ryan Ludwick trying to steal with Pujols up and no outs? He was ready to go home.

Yeah and that's the sad part. The Mets could only muster 2 runs. :laugh2:

**** it, I'll take a win with as bad as this team's been.

That was pretty bad. Don't know why they have to blast every last note. If you're singing "God Bless America" for self aggrandizement, you're missing the point.

Holy ****. K-Rod threw 100 pitches in the bullpen before coming out. No wonder he blew it.

The loss was a disappointment, but the pitchers were good, and the defense was good. Nobody really played bad. So, overall, it wasn't a horrible game. Still, it sucks to play that long and lose.

I remember last year they said La Russa is really superstitious and he doesn't drink water or use the bathroom during the game. I'm guessing he broke that rule tonight.

Exciting game to cap off a great day in baseball. Props to Mather and Lopez for keeping it close when they pitched.

the cardinals lost that game more than the mets won it, its was pretty much handed to them in a silver plate, that inning with the bases juiced that they put cora at 1b and he caught that pop up in the stands, the game should have ended right there

a really odd game. took 18 innings for each team to score a run. i thought this game could have challenged the all time longest game in mlb history. one thing is for sure, if either team has their starting pitcher struggle tommorow, the bullpens will be worn down and throwing junk balls tomorrow.

The Mets could not have won without LaRussa's help last night. Double switching out Holliday by having a pitcher bat behind Pujols the rest of the game might have been the single, most egregious case of over managing I've ever seen.

That said, how pathetic were Jason Bay and David Wright for not being able to get hits off the Cardinal position players? Something tells me Adam Wainwright won't have to work too hard tonight.

the funny thing is, the rockie game was supposed to be on fox, but it never showed (at least in the east) because the met-cardinal game was on!
