Player News - Rotoworld
Ethier plates winning run in 10th inning

Andre Ethier knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th as the Dodgers edged the Diamondbacks 6-5 on Thursday.
It'll go as a walkoff single, though the ball to deep center with runners on second and third and one out in the 10th would have been handled by Chris Young had he not been forced to play in. It was Ethier's second hit in six at-bats tonight. He already has seven RBI, even though he missed four starts last week with a sprained ankle.

Athletics' Sheets goes six scoreless

Ben Sheets blanked the Orioles for six innings to win on Thursday night.
An improvement, yet still hardly dominant. Sheets gave up five hits, four of them doubles, and walked three in the 97-pitch outing. Fortunately for the A's, the Orioles went 0-for-7 against Sheets with RISP. Sheets is 1-0 with a 2.65 ERA after three starts, but his WHIP stands at 1.71.

Pads' Young only expected to miss two starts

Padres manager Bud Black confirmed Thursday that Chris Young (shoulder) is only expected to miss two starts.
Young mentioned Tuesday that he's optimistic about returning the first day he's eligible, which would be late next week. The Padres haven't yet decided who will take his place on Sunday in Arizona, but it'll either be Tim Stauffer or Wade LeBlanc. Both can be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Chan Ho Park irritates hammy while warming

Chan Ho Park irritated his right hamstring while warming up in the bullpen on Thursday night.
Park will be reevaluated on Friday morning. He could be out for over a week if a hamstring strain is revealed, and might even be a candidate for the disabled list. Park has a 1.06 WHIP in 5 2/3 innings.

Kazmir shelled in return from disabled list

Making his first start off the DL, Scott Kazmir was shelled for six earned runs in just four innings Thursday against the Yankees.
It wasn't exactly the most ideal matchup for his return -- a Thursday night under the lights at Yankee Stadium -- but he was plain awful. Kazmir allowed three home runs and eight hits total while also walking three. His left shoulder may never be the same. Let's see what happens next week against Detroit.

Well, he faces Halladay tonight, so there's a good chance his streak is over by tomorrow.

Padilla broke Rowand's face... hit him in the head and Rowand has 2 fractured cheek bones and a concussion. Tomorrow could be exciting... We'll probably drill someone.
