You know, Im a Pistons fan and Ive been wondering...if we do get the 1st pick in the draft should we really get John Wall? I mean he will be a good player but he's not what we need. So what Im really trying to say is do we pass on Wall and Turner to fill a need with Cousins?

No you sign Wall and trade Stuckey and Bynum for something solid in the frontcourt.

He is good, but people overrate him.

Definitely not overrated. Just overly hyped.

He is a good player but very overvalued. I've seen a few of his games, important games, and he didn't really impact those games too much. His best game was when Kentucky got eliminated from the tourney because during the last few minutes of that game Wall did everything he could to keep Kentucky afloat and made a lot of great plays and important buckets during crunch time, but ended up falling short. That being said though, based on his potential, I think it would be wise for Detroit to draft him if you get the first pick. He could be used to attract several terrific deals from other teams.

We'll see. Maybe he can save a team like the Pacers, Pistons or Nets or maybe not. I'm not all too sure he's all that hyped up since I don't watch ESPN. I'd hope he's at least a future perennial all star though.

Definitely not overrated. Just overly hyped.

Ye I do think that's a better word. People describe Wall as the second coming of Lebron James.

He's good and he'll be a good player in this league but definitely not right away. He's not going to lead a team to the playoffs, at least not alone.

I think Evan Turner will be the better pro. PG's are like gold in the NBA though so he'll be more valuable.

that's very true.

The Value of a PG and a Big Man seem to outweigh wing players when it comes to the first overall pick. In the last 10 nba drafts, only once has a swingman been drafted 1st overall.

Question: Is Evan Turner THAT good?

Too me hes a trevor ariza + Kevin Martin player. But will less athleticism than Ariza, and not as good a shot as Kmart.

Hell no.... John Wall is a good player, but the hype has got to stop. He won't even be as good as Jennings, Collison, Stephon Curry, or Tyreke Evans year 1.... Mark it down.

I'd take Evan Turner. He is committed and is less likely to let the money get to his head. He is a very smart kid with great character. Evan Turner for sure.

I'll sum this up in one word.

No.

Edit: I can't simplify it that much...if he was in last year's draft...he'd be like the 3-5th best PG in the class.

yungballah15

He will be one of the better point guards in the nba. Iunno it make take him a while. Are he could come in and put up stats like 17 11. He didnt try to much this season with kentucky, just played a steady game, and showed to me hes nba ready, and will deliver the same game in the nba. I dont know how good evan turner is gonna be, he had to take over, for them to win games. John wall, was tryna get other players touches. And put his offense second. thats rare from a college point guard. He is a bit overhyped though.

Anytime a guy like Wall gets as much press coverage as he does, then everybody comes out the woodwork saying "he's just overrated." The kid isn't overrated--he's just young. He does commit too many turnovers right now, but as he progresses as a player that should digress. I would take Wall first if I was the Pistons, cause Stuckey is a better 2 guard than a 1. Bynum is better off the bench, so how come ya think that the Pistons' problems are in the post? Truth is they got a bunch of gaps they need to address, so they would benefit from Wall, Cousins, or Turner but Wall is a better fit for their offensive schemes.

Granted the Pistons won't win immediately with him, but they would be a solid team in a couple of seasons. By then they should have added the other personnel needed to contend in the East.

John wall is hands down the best player in the draft and is the most nba ready. he has the size, athleticism, skills and basketball IQ. Granted he needs to cut down on his turnovers but that will come. Also his shot is a little iffy but that is just a testament to how easy he gets to the rim. He possesses amazing anticipation on defense and is almost impossible to stop on the fast break. He is going to be one of the best pg's in the nba next season. He'l give guys like tyreke evans, chris paul, billups and D rose. a run for their money. he will run old pg's out of the gym and break down the best of defenders. He is going to be really fun to watch next season, no matter where he plays.

Is John Wall THAT good? Kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.

He can be a Baron Davis at the most, a very strong point guard.
CLIPPERS SHOULD DRAFT THIS GUY :D

iFYouSeekAmy

Yes, he can shoot, steal, and run.
Obviously, it shows his true color.

I kinda like the Baron Davis comparison, but more athletic. I like his shot, hopefully he can develop it.

He's a slightly better version of D. Rose. Very slightly. Kid's going to be exciting, but not a centerpiece for a contender unless he develops drastically. Honestly I'd rather have Evan Turner on my team unless I was desperate for a PG. I think Turner is going to be a perennial all star.

John Wall is NOT a better basketball player then Ricky Rubio. Is he more athletic? by far! but ricky rubio is a much better player.

Wall is a guy who can win you a game without scoring the basketball. You guys dont have future PG, not to be mean but Stucky isnt a PG, Wall is your guy.

you cant say both of those, b/c rose will be a centerpiece of a contender along with another 1a/1b player, like bosh or say boozer, and i agree with another poster that said he wouldve been drafted as a 3-5 pg in last years draft, curry and tyreke woulda gone ahead of him AT LEAST

Between Turner and Wall, who's the better shooter? The Nets needs someone who can shoot, they also need leadership.Which seems to be the best fit?

John Wall just has the best name.Evan Turner isn't bad sounding either.Yes, this is irrelevant.

04-11-2010, 09:02 PM
Yeah he is one of the most overhyped players of all time. I know that Wall was this huge deal coming out of highschool but honestly who proved more on the college level Wall or Turner?

Hawkeye15
04-11-2010, 09:05 PM
he has the potential to be the best PG in the NBA, and worst case, he is Rajon Rondo. He is overhyped, but not overrated.

I have a hard time believing that. There were rumors that Wall was going to challenge the NBA to let him come out of HS because of some loophole, but anyway most people said if he would have entered the '09 Draft he would have most likely went 2nd overall

Yeah, let's hope Rubio starts working out or something. He can't survive the NBA with that skinny-*** body!

The NBA is based off athleticism more than anything now days, and Wall has loads of it. He'll kill it in the NBA.
