Story (http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/04/08/video-carmelo-anthony-collapses-on-the-court-play-goes-on-arou/)

A strange, scary play took place in the third quarter of the Nuggets' close win over the Thunder on Wednesday. Carmelo Anthony drove into the lane and made contact with Kevin Durant, and Anthony's head appeared to get pushed down into his neck, causing him to collapse to the floor.

The referees ruled the play as a traveling violation against Anthony, and Carmelo lied flat on his back as the ball was awarded to the Thunder. Apparently the officials thought that the reason for Anthony lying there was that he was okay, but perhaps frustrated with the call. That clearly wasn't the case, though, because when Denver got the ball back on the following possession, Anthony was still on the floor, and stayed motionless as the play was allowed to continue at full speed all around him.

The fans in Oklahoma City initially booed Anthony, obviously believing he was simply being overly dramatic in protesting the call. But I think it's fairly clear that Anthony was either severely shaken up to the point where he wasn't aware of his surroundings, or was completely knocked out for a brief period of time.

Thankfully, Anthony was alright, and ended up returning to the game a short time later. But the referees probably should have stopped play once Denver had regained possession, just to avoid even the possibility of something more serious happening to a player who was visibly injured.

JR Smith is a ******. Call a time out bro.

+1...instead he feels it's a good idea to try to score 1 on 5...this further proves how much of a clown he really is

04-09-2010, 12:14 PM
that was so weird, suprised it hasnt been posted until now. I was watching the game and when he was on the ground, my first thought was omg melo is such a baby, lying on the ground because he didnt get the call, then he didnt get up and o ****........

04-09-2010, 12:32 PM
I couldn't believe no one called timeout, I was like screaming at my tv "HE'S DOWN FOR REAL! CALL TIMEOUT!!!"

Scary moment.

04-09-2010, 02:26 PM
Yeah it was a bad moment the referee's blew the call, Thunder wasted little time to get the ball, then JR Smith forces up a shot. I really hope due to this the league ends up beign a bit more careful, Thunder players were basically stepping over him to play defense.

04-09-2010, 04:29 PM
I can't believe they let that happen, that was crazy. Someone could have stepped on his face.

04-09-2010, 04:36 PM

jr smith is a ***

I was thinking the same thing...Who wants a teammate like that

What a douche, you know they could have stampeded all over Melo because of JR and his 1 man act-- gosh what a flipping idiot

04-09-2010, 11:37 PM
That was pretty messed up, Another good call by the refs

04-09-2010, 11:45 PM
JR Smith is a moron for not calling timeout. He's your ****ing teammate you clown.

04-09-2010, 11:46 PM
I could see the refs letting the thunder continue, cuz it didn't seem like there was a lot of contact. But JR, call a TO....

04-09-2010, 11:57 PM
JR smith is truly a idiot and refs need to be much more aware, the dude wasnt moving and had his eyes closed. That should be a give away something is wrong.

04-09-2010, 11:59 PM
Faked it, he took acting lessons as a teen

04-10-2010, 12:13 AM
Smith is a *****. To worried about how he was going to take on all five guys on OKC to worry about Melo. Then he walks by Melo looks down and throws his hands up like wtf are you laying there for? I would have made that if you weren't in my driving lane. Then just walks by him. ****ing loser.

04-10-2010, 12:30 AM
So either everyone on the court lacked professionalism or Melo simply laid there to protest a call. I'm sure this will be looked at behind closed doors and swept under the rug. After the initial call, I don't blame the refs for allowing to play continue (as is the standard in the NBA) but for a fellow teammate to play on after gaining possession of the ball is just ridiculous.

04-10-2010, 12:34 AM
J.R. Smith you dumbass :pity:

04-10-2010, 12:48 AM
Good Lord Almighty!!!!! I can't believe the refs didn't call time OR JR OR the Nuggs bench didn't call time. He clearly did not appear to be all there when they first sat him up. I am so glad no one injured him !!
The ****ing refs call a 30 sec TO for a stupid bleeding scratch !!!

04-10-2010, 12:58 AM
And the announcers were comically, clueless... "they're going to let him play, lets go... anthony out on the floor, what is he doing?"

04-10-2010, 01:42 AM
the refs are ****ing stupid they should have atleast stopped the game either way. if it would have been a life and death situation they could have taken valuable time away.

04-10-2010, 02:15 AM
He was putting on a show. He layed there on purpose. He wasn't injured. He came back out like 2 minutes later. The guy got booed, applauded, and booed again within 5 minutes. That's what you call a heck of a passionate fanbase. If Thunder fans think you need to get booed, you're definitely gonna get booed, but those same fans are also classy to the point of clapping when a hurt player gets up and makes his way to the sideline. The fans here are tough but respectful. But Melo was playing us. You don't have to believe it, but it's the truth.

04-10-2010, 04:12 AM
Faked it, he took acting lessons as a teen

[Continuation] with Paul Pierce.

04-10-2010, 05:07 AM
How do the refs not go to him after he intially fell and was not moving? Dumbasses just act like nothing happens and inbound the ball with the player. The NBA loves to fine players and coaches for their stupidness, they should fine the refs because Melo could have easily gotten severely injured.

04-10-2010, 05:51 AM
lol they didnt treat him like a superstar. Their just like "who the hell is that scrub on the ground? oh well just keep playing(jr smiths thinking)"

04-10-2010, 05:58 AM
JR Smith is a ******. Call a time out bro.

Seriously.... your teammate is not moving and laying on the floor. You call a timeout, you don't try and score you dumb ***!

04-10-2010, 06:48 AM
That's how they treat their franchise player?? The funniest part is JR points at him as if to blame him for the travel.

04-10-2010, 07:26 AM
lol jr smith is an idiot

04-10-2010, 11:01 AM
always felt something fishy about jr smith...call a timeout you selfish bastard!!!!

04-10-2010, 11:32 AM

That was the most absurdly unclassy thing I've ever seen.

04-10-2010, 11:39 AM
How do the refs not call 3 in the key for Melo??? I'm sick of these superstars getting all the calls. LOL Sorry I had to.

04-10-2010, 12:02 PM
I can't believe the refs let the action go on, that is ridiculous

04-10-2010, 02:04 PM
Insanity. Dangerous at many levels to Anthony's health.

04-10-2010, 02:21 PM
JR Smith... what a ****. Sees his mate lying on the floor and decides to go 1-on-5. What a ****ing moron.
