Much more bigger game for Denver, as they are now in control of #2 seed if they win out.

Lakers all but have #1 seed locked up.

Nuggets moneyline seems like the play.

Thoughts?

From sportsbook.com..

Pau Gasol (Lakers) Total Rebounds OVER 12 (even).

No juice on prop being even payout and Gasol averages 15.5 reb/gm vs Nuggets and with No Kenyon Martin, he should go over the12 no problem.

Who's with me on the Over?

Apparently they've got good chemsitry.. if you're to believe Collins and the other announcer. I'm not sure they have a lot of great individual talent but they play well together and they've been competitive tonight.

I thought that if Chicago slipped into the 8 spot in the East that they may take a game from the Cavs. However, after watching tonight I am gonna say they get sweeped. No LeBron, Shaq, Delonte, or Boobie and it still comes down to the final seconds.

Nah I wasnt paying attention to them. But I think they have a lot of talent. Lebron, Shaq, Verajao, Mo Will, Jamison, West, is a pretty damn group to me. Yes they're not as stacked as other teams, but they're still pretty damn good talent wise.

Great D consists of giving up 108 points to a LeBron-less Cavs team? Thats news to me.

Probably, but it doesn't help that the Bulls are trying to put it together after a series of injuries while the Cavs are peaking.

And this was the first game that Mo was back to his old self. As well as the first game Telfair played for the Cavs. And Andy just came back from a hamstring injury.

Even the announcers were commenting on the offensive efficiency put forth by both teams as well as the defensive effort by Hinrich, Noah and Taj.. Cav's had a good offensive game, the Bulls were better on defense.

Nah man, you have to give the Nuggets credit. The Lakers are just in a slump they can't seem to get out of and the Nuggets are taking advantage.

I'm hoping all the Gasol faithful and the others are watching who said this team is better off with Gasol being the main option. He's been horrible on the both sides of the floor, and his freethrows are the only thing that have saved him so far.

ManRam
04-09-2010, 12:09 AM
The Nuggets are playing well. They deserve credit. The Lakers are slumping, and obviously not having Kobe hurts a ton...but Denver is capitalizing. Can't take any credit away from them just because their opponent is banged up.

I think momentum is huge in the playoffs...even if the first round is a guaranteed win. They need Kobe to finish out the season...and Bynum returning during the first game of the playoffs might not be a great thing. It's hard to step right in an perform perfectly.

Gasol isn't playing poorly. 4-9 is basically Kobe's FG%. 14 points and 6 boards is more than solid. Take out him an Artest, and the Lakers are 6-28.

There's your problem. It ain't Gasol.

I don't think anyone ever said that we should bench Kobe and make Pau the only option.

Thanks for the info ManRam. The Lakers can't miss those opportunities in Denver, the Nuggets are too good.

Something to keep track of: Artest posting up

1st Quarter:
Post-up 1 Result: 2 points (layup under the basket)
Post-up 2 Result: 1 assist (P. Gasol jumper)
Post-up 3 Result: 1 turnover (3-sec violation)
Total # of Post-ups in Quarter = 3

2nd Quarter:
Post-up 1 Result: 2 points (12-foot jumper)
Post-up 2 Result: 1 foul drawn (C. Anthony foul)
Post-up 3 Result: 1 off rebound (J. Farmar miss jumper)
Post-up 4 Result: 1 turnover (loose ball)
Post-up 5 Result: 1 off rebound (S. Vujacic miss jumper), 1 foul drawn (J. Smith foul), 2 points (2/2 FT)
Total # of Post-ups in Quarter = 5

3rd Quarter:
Post-up 1 Result: none
Post-up 2 Result: 1 off rebound (led to a 3-pointer; L. Odom miss jumper)
Post-up 3 Result: 2 points (spin and layup)
Post-up 4 Result: 1 turnover (off foul)
Total # of Post-ups in Quarter = 4

Ron is the post option tonight and needs to go down there in the playoffs for stretches of the game

credit = LG

Way to not call a timeout

Fisher made the right play as no other Laker besides him can make a clutch shot for all the money.

If they don't switch that pick, Fish gets a rhythm shot over Billups from 3 for the win and that is better than any timeout where Denver sets up their defense and makes it harder to get the shot you wanted (see Boston game)

Fact is Fisher got the perfect shot just wasn't expecting Melo to switch out. That was good coaching by Phil and a good call on Fish because if you check their histories he has hit more clutch shots in his life than Pau, Ron, Sasha, Shannon, Lamar, or Jordan put together.

He had a poor game. The defense was completely focused on him and he missed some cupcake lay ins. His numbers looked good because of his free throw shooting tonight which was great. We were in this game because our bench finally showed up tonight. Brown, Farmar, and Vujacic gave us scoring for the 1st time probally this season collectively.

On a side note, Gasol seems to choke during the clutch. He cost us a game earlier against Memphis with poor decision making and bad passes, and had thta silly turnover that cost us tonight as well.

Wrong. It was not the right shot or play. Phil even stated the ball was suppose to go to LO if Denver switched. Denver did switch and LO had Billups on him and Fish didn't pass. Fish has hit clutch shots in the past, but they are mostly with someone passing it to him, not him doing it off the dribble.
http://lakers.freedomblogging.com/

“It was a play that we run quite a bit down the stretch,” Gasol answered. “But it didn’t turn out. They switched. Lamar (Odom) broke to the post to try and take advantage of the switch with (Chauncey) Billups on him. Derek didn’t see him, the clock ran out, and he had to take a shot.”

Said Phil Jackson: “We got the mismatch on it, but we didn’t have the action that we asked for. It was because we misplayed it.”

Fish misplayed it because he didn't look to pass.

It doesn't matter, they don't owe the Raptors anything. They are doing what is best for them going into the playoffs and don't give 2 ***** abut the Raps. The Raps can do their own work and beat the Bulls when they play Sunday. If they lose it's on them.

Of course. They should do what's best for them. But I find it weird that Mike Brown to made such a statement and then did the opposite. I guess I'm the only one who thinks Brown didn't need to say it.
