Obviously not. He never was, never will be, especially now at his age.

People were however saying he was done, and no longer a good player. He still has it, and watch out for him and the Spurs in the playoffs. My pre-season Finals team. Not sure if they are actually that good still, but he'll have something to say about it. He still has it for sure.

put it like this
if Kobe is a 10/ Manu is a 8 1/2
if LB is a 10/ manu is a 8 3/5
if Dwade is a 10/ manu is a 9 1/2
if Durant is a 10/ manu is a 9/12

Yes Ginobli is currently unguardable, but it takes more than a few good offensive nights to establish yourself as the best in the league.

jackdawson
04-05-2010, 02:16 PM
No he is not.

But watch out for the spurs in the playoffs. The question is if they still have it. Spurs are the best playoff team imo who dont show too much in the regular season. And Manu is the most dangerous sign for other contenders. If he is hot and Tim Duncan remains Tim Duncan, I dont see anyone beating them.

Manu is actually more athletic than Kobe at this point in both players careers, with Kobe's milage being the reason.

Manu is playing right at the level of the players you mentioned (except LeBron, who is on a different level). The thing is, he's least likely to sustain that level of play, especially if he returns to the bench.

People really underestimate Manu's athleticism, he can finish in traffic.

I don't think he is the best player, but when you carry your team on your back in prolly the toughest stretch of the season (with W's over Orlando, Boston, OKC, Lakers and Cleveland) it's not a fluke. You're playing on an elite level when it matters. Manu is a winner.

lol are you kidding me? it's been a little over a month now not 2 games. Off the top (talking points) 38 vs clevaland, 43 vs orlando, 32 vs lakers, 28 vs boston, 38 vs atlanta, 30 vs cavs again. In his defense their schedule is Much tougher than what Wade is seeing. But now It's between Wade & Manu right now. And all the clowns thinking this is a crazy question should open their eyes. Manu averaged almost 26 points all of March shot over 50% and was getting about 6 assists and 5 rebounds. And the difference between him and Wade vs LeBron, they aren't scared to drive in the end of games and shoot big free throws.

MrFastBreak
04-05-2010, 04:00 PM
Q to the OP, What would make you consider that? Even though I dont agree with it, I AT LEAST would like some reasoning as to why you're considering it. Sure enough Manu has came into his own, which is something I'd halfway expected(he always came with a fine and dandy recovery from injury), but it wouldnt lead me to believe he's been the best player in the league. Care to explain why you think so?

SwaggaIke
04-05-2010, 04:49 PM
Manu is currently playing top 5 ball right now. Only LeBron, Wade, Amare and Durant are playing better ball RIGHT NOW. He's splitting double teams at a rate only second to Wade, shooting well from all area's of the floor and attacking like the Ginobili we all know and love. If you don't think he's playing top 5 ball right now, you haven't been watching. He's been the catalyst in big wins against some of the league's best over the last month or so. Give credit where credit is due.

Obviously not the best, but I know that you actually meant "hottest". He's been playing great, but not on the level of Wade / Durant / Lebron. Those three are going nova. Amare's probably been better offensively also, though the guy is still pathetic on D for how big and athletic he is.

I agree. I think everyone else in here are ginobili haters... he has single handedly beaten LA, ORL, CLE, BOS, and hmm.. the one game he misses the spurs lose. So yes he is playing the best as of late. Not the best player in the league by any means. Just best play as of late. Spurs actually have a chance in the playoffs if he and parker are healthy.

Statistically speaking, according to yahoosports- fantasy he has been the 4th best player for the past month (Behind Durant, Troy Murphy and DWade).

Over the past month (16 games) he has averaged:
8.6 FGM on 51% FG shooting. 87% FT, 44% three-point shooting (hitting 2.5 per game), 25.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.1 spg.

He's not a top tier player, but right now he's playing like one. We'll see how long the crafty Manu Ginobili can keep it up.

Monta Ellis and Lebron both have better stats also. But Monta only played 9 games last month, and Lebron 13. Fantasy stats wise David Lee has been his equal.

Anyway, no -- he's not the hottest player in the league the past month. But he's making the Spurs a lot more dangerous when he plays like this. Which they're going to need in a big way during the last week with both Tony Parker and now George Hill out. Though I have a feeling the Spurs are going to be destined for a Lakers meeting in the first round. TP should be back by then, so like every other West matchup, it's going to be interesting.

Those rankings were the average, so missing games doesn't count against them. As of right now for the past month LeBron is 5, Lee 6, and Ellis 7. So yea, they're right there with him.
