History shows that financial largesse typically leads to more wins -- Cuban's Mavericks have been to the playoffs nine years in a row, and Paul Allen's deep pockets definitely haven't hurt the Blazers.

But organization and vision have something to do with success as well.

James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, shells out a top five payroll every year, but his team hasn't made the postseason since 2003-04. That's due in large part to the people Dolan has hired. Isiah Thomas and Larry Brown were horrible fits for New York. Thomas drove the team into the ground so fast you would have thought there was gold at the core of the Earth. And Brown was hardly motivated to do his best work -- he won just 23 games in his only season as Knicks head coach.

Also includes a list of top 5 best and top 5 worst owners in the league.

having paul allen around has helped the blazers alot because a few years ago they were really struggling to keep the team in portland. but thanks to paul's money, they were able to make it through the rough years and now have aldridge and roy locked up for many years. having an owner willing to spend the money to keep their players and sign quality fa's definitely helps an nba franchise.

I personally think that as in any Job the cooler your boss is, the more motivated you will be going to work everyday, it helps chemistry significantly.

Most people with money own property which generates money. Whether that property is land or stocks or a chain of McDonalds, the formula has always been property = power + wealth

If they're willing to go into the luxury, it makes a big difference.

It makes a huge difference to have an owner who is smart, passionate and engaged. Just look at the Pistons. What would that franchise have ever done without Bill Davidson?
