View Full Version : Insane buzzer beater by Josh Smith

Did anybody see that!?
I'll try and post a video ASAP, but basically the game was tied and the Hawks inbounded the ball to JJ. He shoots, misses, and Josh Smith comes out of nowhere and dunks it at the buzzer.

Absolutely insane.

Yeah. I saw it. Phenomenal. Brain lapse on Lewis on Co. though for not blocking him out.

Heart-breaking...but I'll give it it's props.

It is only one game. I'm not actually that bummed. We didn't deserve to win. You outplayed us all night. I don't think we're going to take a **** on any team after the first round...give your Hawks some credit. They blow most every team out of the water in terms of athleticism. We are a hot and cold team...you never know.

If you're talking about streaky teams, the Hawks didn't record a field goal for a stretch of 8+ minutes, but then again every team has cold streaks.

Can't say that wasn't amazing. I'd be a really happy Hawks fan if I did root for Atlanta. I think we didn't play well the whole night, and Atlanta just outplayed us on both ends. We tried to make a late-game effort, but those don't work. You guys deserved the win, haha. Good game. Good buzzer-beater.

Shouldn't the Magic have had like .2 seconds though? IF he did get it off in time, and it was a dunk, we should have some time left.

lol?? did you not see a couple seasons ago when dwight howard caught the alley oop from the inbounds with 0.8 seconds and dunked it and the time expired... lmao

Nope.

By the time the ball was through the net, the light was on.

Idk what the rule is in such cases but that time that D12 had a game winning dunk against the Spurs, did they leave some time on the clock for the Spurs? It was a different situation though, it was an out of bounds alley oop so it's easier to factor time in that case.

The Magic wouldn't have had more than 0.1 seconds left though. Since the clock starts as soon as the ball is touched by a player, it would have been impossible for someone to get a shot off, even an alley-oop attempt.

Yeah I know. Not saying we had a chance to win, but I thought the clock was supposed to stop, it didn't even in the Magic and Spurs game and there was time clearly left. But I think SA did get .3-.5 seconds left, not shown in the clip.

I think you think I'm talking about the ATL game? I was talking about the Magic, SA one.

I mean seriously just give credit where it's due, more divine play than anything. The ball was still in his hand with 0.1 seconds, just let that sink in and that should resolve whatever doubts.

Super.

It really doesn't matter, we just match up too well. If the Hawks meet the Celts in the playoffs, don't expect more than 5-6 games at the most.

It's unfathomable that so many people forget to box this guy out on the boards. It's not just an athletic highlight...but also pure hustle on Smiths part.

Great hustle and uncanny atheltic ability are a dangerous combo.
