With roughly 12-14 games for these 3 guys, who do you think will be the scoring champion?

Currently both Lebron and Durant are at 29.7 ppg, however if you go to decimal places, then Durant is at 29.74 ppg and Lebron at 29.68 ppg thru 69 games. While Melo is at 28.79 ppg thru 57 games.

Who will be the scoring champion?

Durant will get the scoring title by about a 0.05-0.08 margin.

I think it will be a unanimous KD vote for anyone who's not a die-hard Lebron fan.

Too bad Melo had that ankle injury because he missed 12 games and he was dropping about 30 points a night. When he got back it took him some time to find his scoring groove again. If it wasnt for the injury this scoring race would be even closer

If the Cavs get a lock on the #1 seed, LeBron won't be playing or will only play a few minutes here or there to keep him moving. I gotta go with that machine from OKC

^This is a huge difference. If he doesn't play, then it doesn't matter. But if he only plays a few minutes, then that kills his per game averages. I'm actually pretty curious to see how Lebron is going to deal with this. There's no way that he (or anyone else in his place) wouldn't care at all about winning the scoring title if he has the chance to, so I'd be surprised to see him play in a game and only log 10-20 minutes. We'll see, though.

Also pretty curious to see how he'll respond to Durant's 45. If he takes 25+ shots tomorrow night and puts up a huge number against New Orleans, you can bet it's on his radar in a major way.

Durant. But Lebron can take over anytime with unbelievable scoring stretch. If he wants the scoring title badly, i think he will play heavy minutes and get it. We all know mike brown won't say anything over lebron because he wants to keep his job!

I'm pushing for KD obviously, but it's definitely a two man race at this point... just like the MVP race.

I'd wager my life earnings on KD winning it.

Cleveland will eventually coast into the playoffs, meaning LBJ wont be dropping 30 points a night. KD is fighting for seeding still. Melo is too far behind.

I had Melo at the beginning of the year, doesn't seem as though he can pull it off though.

well durant did jus drop 45 so that prob increased it a bit, so you figure that'll come down and then with a big game from lebron he should be ahead, so im takin LBJ

That is what gave him the 29.74 ppg average.

I've had a feeling that Durant will win ever since December. The guy's offensive game is a work of art, not to mention he's hungry and ready to put OKC on the map.

Seattle has always been on the map.

If the cavs have enough close games, Lebron will win, if not Durant will win. Melo has no shot.

I had LeBron at the beginning of the year but Durant could take it away from him.

I'm rooting for Kevin Durant because I'm falling in love with him, but you can't really go wrong either way. The NBA will have nice marketing opportunities regardless.

I read somewhere (can't remember where, sorry) that if Durant leads the league in scoring this season he'll be the youngest ever to do so. Is that true?

Lebron back in the lead today. He has now scored 9 more points this season than Durant in 70 games.

I know that the other night against Toronto he had a chance to become the youngest player to score 2,000 points through 67 games (he came up 9 points short behind Lebron), but I haven't heard anything about him being the youngest scoring champion ever. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Points

1. LeBron James-CLE 2086
2. Kevin Durant-OKC 2077

Both have played 70 games.

Melo is out of it now, and Lebron and Durant are both at 29.7 ppg.

Looks like:

Lebron = 2170 points after 73 games

Durant = 2195 points after 74 games

So any points more than 25 that Lebron puts up tonight is his lead. Has to be one of the closest scoring titles ever.

Good to see that they're both not obviously shooting for the title at their teams expense, though. In their last 5 games the Thunder are 4-1 while Durant hasn't taken more than 20 shots once, and the Cavs are 4-1 --and while he has taken more than 20 shots 3 times-- he hasn't shot more than 22. Right on par with how they've been doing it all year.

Lebron with 27 tonight.

So, after 74 games for both of them:

Lebron = 29.68 ppg

Durant = 29.66 ppg
