Looking back to before the draft, I recall all the negative comments about how horrible the draft class was. AND how my kings having the fourth pick in the draft was horrible, as there was only one true star (Blake) coming out in the draft. I have always maintained that EVERY draft has stars... this last draft was just PG heavy, and thus was less appealing on first glance.

Now, we can all agree that there were some good players that came out in this draft. Especially lately, there have been some big games from rookies. Jrue Holiday, Toney Douglas and Hill have started to show what they can do.

My question, how does this draft rate as far as star quality? We can only guess as to how good Blake and Rubio will be.

Who will be the top 5 players out of this draft when all is said and done?

...and who is your sleeper pick for all-star out of this draft.

Top 5 out of this years draft: Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, Stephen Curry, Johnny Flynn, and Blake Griffin or Darren Collison or James Harden.

Sleeper:Ty Lawson

Blake will be a big determining factor in how good this class is.

I picked the 1st one just b/c it's already above average and this is without Griffen or Rubio playing a single game, and those were the 2 most hyped players before the draft. If they live up to expectations it will be one of the best ever imo. Prolly top 10-12.

i also remember someone saying blake would be a number 14 pick in a regular draft and thats how week they thought it was.

Yeah, I have been impressed with some of the performances as of late. And as many of you have said, we haven't even seen Rubio or Griffin play yet. If EITHER one of those players is a superstar, then this is one of the greatest drafts ever. MOSTLY due to the number of really good players (not great) that will come out of it.

You look at Darren Collison, for example. The past month he is averaging about 20 points, 10 assists and 3.5 rebounds. While shooting about 50% from the field and 80% from the line. That's damn good. Arguably, better than Chris Paul did his rookie year.

Tyreke is having a year that can be compared to Dwayne Wade... this season. If he improves at all, then a comparison between the two is easy.

Then you look at Stephen Curry... his season is comparable to Chancy Billups this year.

So you have a Chris Paul type, a Wade and a Billups that came out of this draft. And that is not including Griffin, Rubio, Brandon Jennings and others.

I still think Harden and DeRozan can end up on this list too.

If you look at the heralded best draft in recent years, the 2003 draft, we can compare player by player.

Best player in that draft- Lebron James. No one compares to him.
Next in that class was Dwayne Wade- comparing to Tyreke.
Then Carmenlo Anthony- Stephen Curry is showing similar promise.
Chris Bosh- lets assume Blake will be as Good.
David West- Darren Collison is easily comparable for rookie years.
Chris Kaman- comparable talent to Jennings.
Mo Williams- Jrue Holiday is showing similar potential.
Josh Howard- James Johnson is doing just as good in his starts.

We can keep going down the list and the 2009 draft seems better.

So basically it is Lebron who made that draft great. BUT last years draft was much deeper in talent.

Nothing exciting. We'll see if Rubio ever does anything. Griffin & Curry could become All-Stars. Maybe Evans too, but I am not sold on him as an All-Star. I don't think Jennings will ever be an All-Star.

A.J Price could also be a sleeper. Down the line I see him as a Derek Fisher/Mike Bibby type player. A solid point guard who can run a team and nail 3's. Won't put up CP3/Deron Williams type numbers but can get the job done.

Yeah, Price has some good potential. He's one of the most underrated rookie PG's from the 09 draft with all of the other PG's that are doing well.

He hasn't gotten that many minutes this year because of TJ Ford and Earl Watson, but assuming we don't acquire a point guard this offseason, he will most likely start for us next season. Given the proper minutes he can fill his role well and efficiently. Great second round pick IMO.

Maybe, but I see him as more of a 6th man so far. I don't think he could be a top 3 or 4 scoring option on a team, but he could definitely be one of the better passing PG's in the future.

Yeah, Price was a steal in the 2nd round. I'm assuming the Pacers will give him a chance to start next year with Ford backing him up. The Pacers actually have a pretty nice future. Price - ? - Granger - Hansbrough - Hibbert looks nice.

Okay, this is the first time I'm gonna be a homer since I joined PSD, but I really think Terrence Williams will make at least 2 all-star teams over the course of his career. I think when its all said and done, Terrence Williams will be top-5 in this draft class.

Yeah, we actually do. We have Brandon Rush as our future shooting guard, he has potiental to be a Rip Hamilton type player with better defense. If we can get Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins, i'm content with our future for a while.

That would be the Piece they need to be a young Thunder or Blazer young team contender.

Great list!! This was the exact analysis I was trying to get to... if you got time, how about another list with the 2003 draft as a comparative. Like I said earlier... that was the best draft class we have had in a while (because of Lebron) but take out Lebron, and last years draft was actually just as good... if not better.

No I was thinking more like; a slightly above-avg draft, a few star-quality guys, but no Top 5-10 players.

It's an above average class so far (if average is the '05 and '06 draft classes). But it's much better than people thought it would be. And (like everyone else said), that's without Griffin and Rubio, arguably the two best prospects at draft time, even playing a game.

Passing isn't even one of his strengths. The dude is a scorer and a great defender.

Yeah, the nothing exciting option is meant as an "average" choice. That way we have "great", "above average", "average" and "below average". Thought that pretty much covered it...
