View Full Version : Players that would flourish in other systems?

What players are underperforming simply because they are asked to fit into a system that doesn't show their strenghts?

I personally don't like big guys shooting 3's, but I think guys like Sheed or Bargnani would fit into Orlando's system, while I think a guy like Hedo Turkoglu would be a perfect fit for a team with a lot of SG's, but not a pure PG (like the Pistons).

I'm not talking about "dream scenarios" or potential offseason moves, just player transfers that generally benefit the player and the team.

Others?

Honestly, this is a really good question; and this thread should get some good feedback, but I'm too hammered to think right now.

But I'll go on a slight tangent and tell you what this thread makes ME think about is what do you think about obvious superstars who don't get their due recognition simply because of the teams/markets they play in.

Can you imagine the hype Chris Bosh would get if he was on the Bulls rather than the Raptors, or Al Jefferson if he didn't play in Minnesota.

Anyways, off topic, but someone should make a thread with that as the subject --

Rudy Fernandez would florish in NY.

Portland plays too slow for him and they have Roy at the 2. He has been relegated to a spot up shooter. He's much more than that IMO.

Bargnani. Although it's more about position than "system".

TURKOGLU, I hate this guy send him back to Orlando.Laziest player and he's always laughing with the other team during game, got no respect for that, you should hate your opponents while your playing them not make friends with them (funny Orlando got Carter he's the same way)

The teams that they play for have nothing to do with them getting recognition. To be honest, Bosh and Big Al do get the recognition they deserve, its totally even. Everybody knows what types of players both are.

Bosh is a great jumpshooting bigman who can rebound really well and can score in many different ways. How does he not get enough recognition when hes considered a top 3 PF? Thats damn good for a guy who cant make a talented team (esp offensively) even sniff the playoffs and who's been in the league long enough and still hasnt even become decent on the defensive end. Im not gonna put all the blame on him, but if hes such a top 3 PF, why's he not making any significant impact on the Raps despite averaging a double double?

Big Al is a guy who can hurt you with his post up game and his good rebounding. How does he not get enough recognition when he was considered the 2nd best C in the game last season? Maybe hes not getting recognition because hes not looking like the player he was last season before he tore his ACL or maybe because his teammate Kevin Love is outplaying him even when hes not been getting significant minutes. Love is the one who deserves to be recognized.

Andrei Kirilenko as the Warriors power forward would be a beast, or a run n gun D'Antoni system. He'd be back to his best.

Shawn Marion under Don Nelson. Brandon Roy in the triangle offense.

In PHX, or GS he would blow up, & easily average 21, & 9.

If Hedo could go to the Pistons and basically play point guard for them he'd be way better than he is now.

Imagine Chris Bosh on an athletic, defense-oriented team with a lot of young legs.

Jordan Farmer would flourish under a fast tempo offense.

The best fit for Sheed is a Dunkin' Donuts.

I mostly agree with you. I do think that some of the younger guys on Golden State might benefit from playing under a real coach.

Hedo turkoglu
He was a much better fit in Orlando, he needs to go to an athletic team who needs a ball handler

Andrea Bargnani
Although I like his game, he would definately flourish as a Reshard Lewis Role or at least to a team that needs a PF(he shouldn't play the C). With him and Bosh on the backcourt, offense is amazing but defense is horrible.

Jose Calderon
As much as I love this guy, I'd rather trade him for an athletic SF or C
He should be with a defensive athletic team

As scary as it seems, LeBron in any system. Right now it seems he has to work so hard to get a shot off and he still averages 30pts. If he was in the triangle, dammmmmn.

If Bargnani went the Magic, they would be even better... Bargnani is actually a decent shooter of the dribble and can occasionally post up. But IMO, everyone would flourish playing with the Warriors.

Andre Igoudala in Phoenix. Playing off the ball with a PG like Nash. His numbers will significantly increase across the board.

I can name a lot players who will be pretty damn good if they play under Mike D'Antonie.

Also, anyone who plays with Steve Nash. He is like God in making players look good. Ask Shawn Marion and you can ask Amar'e next year.

Gallo in Orlando, GS, Clev, or LA.... He can just sit back and let the threes rain because of all the attention of playing with superstars. GS because everyone has the greenlight.

Lebron in portland with Brandon Roy and Alridge would be terrifying.
