Somebody is going to jump on this...he has a great deal to add to any team looking for that extra wing to spread the floor and play tough defense come playoff time...which everyone needs...

What? WTF?!?!!? Why would they waive a talented player like that? I realize he wasn't playing, but you think they'd at least have traded him before the deadline. There are lots of teams that would like to have Bell on their roster, at least get a draft pick out of it or something.

The Cavs especially could use him, but I'm sure a lot of teams (like D Roses Bulls say: Orlando as another example).

Has Bell even been waived in time ti sign with another team and be eligible to play in the playoffs? I know he may not even be back this season, but still, the timing seems weird?

They have to be waived before a certain date, it was around the time that the Spurs waived Finley. It doesn't matter when they sign.

Isn't Bell hurt anyways?

Bell might not even return this season. If he does, Nellie said, it would be the last few games. Only problem with cutting Bell is that the Warriors want him. General manager Larry Riley has said he wouldn’t mind signing Bell for next season. If the Warriors cut him and another team picks him up, which is possible, the chances of the Warriors signing him back decrease. The Warriors wasn’t able to turn Raja Bell’s expiring contract into trade bait. So if he walks this offseason, the Warriors will have gotten nothing for swingman Stephen Jackson other than Vladimir Radmanovic, who has a player option for next season.

http://www.ibabuzz.com/warriors/2010/03/19/if-reggie-stays-who-goes/

So someone can sign him? I guess so because he is under contract so whoever signs him has to pay him his contract.

Yeah, the date is March 1. So he can't play in the playoffs.

He was supposed to be out for the season with a wrist injury, but apparently was going to start practicing with the Warriors again soon.

March 1st was the date in which a player has to be cut by to be able to be signed by a team and be playoff available

Yes now he can sign with any other team or he can be picked up on waivers and play the rest of the regular season.

But lets say the Lakers signed him, he could play until the end of the season but would not be able to play in the playoffs.

Hopes this helps everyone out.

Why would anyone do that?
1) We're probably in the playoffs
2) We've got a rookie starting at SG
3) He has ties with the GM
4) Many players like playing in Toronto
5) Why the hell not

Bell was suppose to play the last 4-5 crap games for the season.

I like Reggie Williams, but I'm not sure if he will resign with the Warriors if the season ends.

Bell said he wants to play for the Warriors, due to the similar type of offense.

Warriors need a great veteran role, apparently Devan George is a OMFG LMFAO HAHAHAH VETERAN.

If Reggie Williams signs for next season, then that means Anthony Morrow or Kelenna Azubuike has to be traded. Both are the "untouchables", but since Warrior's Front Office is so corrupt, anyone can be traded.

Sigh.. stressful to be a Warrior fan.

He would be a nice addition but not now, its too late in the season to mess with team chemistry.

You have to be waived I think before March 1 to be playoff-eligible. Ilgauskas was waived before that, he is now waiting out his 30 days. Bell wasn't waived on time, anyway, he's out for the season.

So this makes perfect sense.

i would too. it could be the difference between making and not making the playoffs for the Raps. after that you just take your chances.

It's not a rumor. If you are a free agent already, then you can play.
Cassell had to have been one already.
Otherwise, if you are still on one team and then waived after march 1st, then you aren't playoff eligible.
If that were the case though, then teams would use that as a loophole and sign whomever they wanted up until the last game of the year.

I know Phoenix won't because it makes no sense financially, but I wouldn't mind him returning to be a locker room presence.
Making Nash happier would only help this team.

I highly doubt he was going to stick with the Warriors anyway. He's getting older and unless they offered him a big deal, he probably will want to play for a ring. I don't think the Warriors would have done this if they were confident he'd stay.

San Antonio or Utah is my guess for where he ends up next season.

The lakers should sign him. when kobe is out of the game, bells defense could be very usefull in assuring a break for bryant. and yeah the warriors want no defense.

Makes me wish we didn't sign Finley so we could get Bell. Any team that signs him will be lucky. Any contender could use a 3 point sharpshooter off the bench.

A lot of people are either forgetting or dont realize this, he chose wrist surgery instead of playing for the Warriors.

A player has to be waived before march 1st to be eligible and since Raja Bell was waived after it he is NOT eligible for the playoffs. By the way since Zydrunas Illgauskas was waived before March 1st he can be eligible for playoffs whenever he signs!
