Just wondering what you thought about this list. Who is too high, who is too low, and how would you rank them? You can give a Top 10, 15, 25, etc. BTW, for any NBA fan out there you should really get Bill's book of basketball. It is really good and very entertaining.

The list is basically a mess, but just a few that caught my eye:

- Duncan is way too high.
- LeBron is too high.
- Kobe is too low - Olajuwan 5 spots above Kobe? Duncan 8 spots above him? No.
- 4 of the top 8 / 5 of the top 11 are Lakers  (Kobe should be top 10)

lol at the Duncan and Dream hate, both easily got a better resume than current Kobe, and no way should Kobe be above Shaq either. Big O and Jerry West are overrated, Shaq bests them both.

I think its hilarious that people think they can legitimately rank players they have never seen.

If you actually read his book instead of glancing at his list, he does mention in the book that he wrote it before the NBA Championship and that if Kobe does win the title without Shaq, he is automatically bumped into the top 10 All-Time or something. He possibly said top 8, but I forgot, read it a while ago.

Chamberlin should never be outside of top 2....

Most conversations I have had about the greatest of all time have centered around Chamberlain v. Jordan. If this is actually his list, I think its a travesty that Wilt is so low on that list.

exactly. I think anytime a guard does something they get ranked higher than the big men. I only rate players I've seen...I've seen some of Larry Bird clips but I think he should be rated a lil bit lower. I only rate the players of the last 10 years.

Doesn't do the list justice to just post the names. You have to read the book to hear his explanations and arguments for putting the players where they are. Read the book, you won't regret it - some pretty good insight and a boat-full of laughs.

* my starting 5

Pierce isn't top 35. Ray isn't top 50. AI probably belongs, but tough, I hate him.

I've seen all these guys play BTW - on TV or live. I took off Mikan, Cousy and Pettit cause I never saw them.

Wilt use to be a a track star, so people act like he was only good cus he played against small players. Wilt was athletic he could get over 20 and 10 in todays game I think, there's less big men in the game. Plus I'm real young but I've seen a classic game vs him and Jabaar and Wilt looked like he could hold his own even though he was older at that time.

Chamberlain at 6? Malone below Petit? Petit above Pippen and John Stockton? LeBron over Stockton and Pippen? Havlicek over Pippen, Stockton and Malone?

Shocker, someone posts a list in the NBA forum and everyone thinks it's the worst list in the world. blah blah blah, it's tough to make lists, there is no perfect list that everyone agrees with, make your own list if you care, lists are stupid who cares.

 people also forget that big men tire faster. wilt played almost every minute in his career ( except for the year when he got injured ). he did that while he was banging 20000 chicks, playing point guard on harlem globetrotters ( travelling all around the world. add jetlag ) and later in his career he played competitive volleyball.

people need to stop whining. making a list is entirely a person's opinion.

I guess I don't get the hate for Ducan at 6, he's one of the top five players in my lifetime. As was pointed out, I have a hard time making a list that includes people I never saw play. My list is 25 players I've seen play
1. MJ
2. Magic
3. Kobe
4. Shaq
5. Duncan
6. Hakeem
7. Bird
8. Malone
9. Barkley
10. KG
11. Lebron James
12. Isiah Thomas
13. Scottie Pippen
14. AI
15. John Stockton
16. Patrick Ewing
17. Jason Kidd
18. Dirk Nowistki

Russel should not be #2 for all the talk about him as the best rebounder ever Wilt actully has a higher career total. He is the greatest winner in sports history but he is not the second best player ever. You can argue him into the top 5 but IMO is somewhere in the top 10. I also disagree with people saying duncan is to high. Hes the best power forward ever and had two completley different championship teams built around him. the 99 and 03 group was completley different from the 05 and 07 teams, Timmy D is deffinatley one of the best players ever and this is comeing from a lakers fan.
