View Full Version : If you could have 1 point guard to start a franchise with?

Ty Fast

If I were picking with my heart I would have to say D Rose, but realistically I would have to say Tyreke Evans. As good as Rose is Evans can do it all. Rebound, pass, and score. Deron Williams and CP3 would also be at the top of the list. If you want to pick John Wall go ahead.

hey i love billups. i have a jersey of him and for one season he would be a high pick but he is like 13 years older than evans

Chris Paul...rest of the young ones are shot first guys who get assets, Paul is pass first that could score. He is also, really good defender. My top two criteria of point guards are to be able to deny penetration and be pass first. I would also put Rajon Rondo, in there but he needs good finishers with him. On top of my head I would say Rondo is the best defensive point guard.

If it's recently/now/within the last few years

1:Paul
2:Nash
3:Kidd
4:Deron
5:Iverson

Paul has so far surpassed the other 4 in terms of all around abity, Nash secondly because his prime was simply amazing, and out of the bunch is (arguably) the best pure PG, Kidd next for his amazing defense and his also pure-Point guardness (Kidd and Nash are swappable, but Nash has 2 MVP's to flash his prime around, kidd has final appearances) Deron next as he hasn't done much, but is still young, and VERY talented, in the nexy few years he "could" pull a swap with any of these guys. And finally iverson because he was simply amazing.

Tyreke evans is not a pg. hes a shooting guard. playing him at the 1 isnt as good as playing him at the 2. Yes derrick rose is good to start with. 20 5 and 3? he needs to improve his playmaking though and rebounding. hes go the hops, hes gotta anticipate plays better to grab boards. he also needs to penetrate draw the defense closer and then kick out the ball to an open man, instead of trying to win all by himself.

my pick goes to John Stockton  if you want to start a franchise you really want somebody who is gonna stick around for a while...I think John Stockton's 19 years speak for themself.

If you want current PGs though D-Will fo sho, and I'm not just being a homer. If it weren't for D-Will the Jazz wouldn't even be top 10 in assists per game, it's his playstyle and his leadership and his teamwork that leads the team to share the ball and have the most assists per game of any team in the NBA.

Rajon Rondo. I like my PG to be able to rebound, pass, score, and defend. He's the perfect player to build around IMO.

I don't see him as a leader though.

Evans, & Rose, cause they are on rookie contracts, but as a Heat fan D Williams would fit the best next to Wade.

All time it has to be Magic, with Oscar right after him.

Now: Paul
All time: Magic

Tyreke Evans is not a true point guard.

In the present D Williams, I'm not a big Wall fan, but why would someone pick him if they don't know how he plays in the NBA yet.

I'm so confused. How could anyone not choose Chris Paul or Deron Williams?

All Time MAgic Johnson, if your talking currently Chris Paul, followed by Deron Williams, then Steve Nash.

LeBron on steroids? you decide.

After: http://www.flytip.com/blogs/sneaker_...ebron_dunk.jpg

It's called working out, you should try it sometime. He's been in the league for 7 years, and he came from high school, not to mention the first pic is when he's a rook and the second pic is from 2 seasons ago, within 5 years you can do a lot to your body without steroids. On a side note though, what is the referee doing in the first pic? Clearly the game is still going, and if he's calling a foul shouldn't he at least wait to see if it's an and-1

Assuming we're talking about players still active and at this stage of their career, I'd choose Deron.

Glad to see Chicago is out in full force as usual.

Current PG: Westbrook IMO best two way PG in the league

honourable mentions to Chauncy Billups 2 - 3 years ago he would have been the guy

Tyreke Evans: Steve Nash like passing skills in a 6'6 225 lb beast - 2-3 years he probably will be the guy

Past: Stocton and since others have thrown out LBJ and Oscar (and they aren't really pgs) Pistol Pete
