After talks with my roommates we came to this question, and I thought I'd send it out to PSD nation. Which draft has the best combined #1 and #2 overall draft picks? Some drafts have beastly #1 picks (2003 LeBron James) and terrible #2 pick (2003 Darko Milicic) or beastly #2 picks (07 Kev Durant) and Flopper #1 picks (07 Greg Oden).

What draft had #1 and #2 both become stars? Or the closest thing to it.

well one thing we shoudl consider when talkin bout drafts is.

wich is better a draft that gave away two or three hoffers and a pair of allstars and then a bunch of crap out of the league in 4 years

or a draft with tow or three allstars and 40 players that were able to hold on to the league for 10 or more years being at least 20 of them regular starters.

I was just checking 84 and 85 draft and im not so sure MJ and dream make up for the LOTS of busts in 84 specially since 85 has Karl and Ewing to name a few

That one is good.

1968 NBA Draft #1 Elvin Hayes and #2 Wes Unseld
Thats a pretty damn good one too.

The real question should be the best #1 and #3 draft pick combo.

1984 Draft #1 Hakeem Olajuwon and #3 Michael Jordan
2003 Draft #1 LeBron James and #3 Carmelo Anthony
1997 Draft #1 Tim Duncan and #3 Chauncey Billups
1982 Draft #1 James Worthy and #3 Dominique Wilkins
1979 Draft #1 Magic Johnson and #3 Bill Cartwright

That's amazing.

That would easily be The Dream and MJ.

As for the best #1 and #2 picks, gotta go with Robertson and West.

God damn, Billups was a #3? The man was bounced around all over the NBA before making a name for himself in Detroit. He just keeps getting better with age

1960, easily.
If Detroit had taken ANYONE of the next 3 it may have gone down differently in a few years
