Name Every Franchise Player that Your Team has Had in it's history

Example:

Chicago Bulls - MJ, Pippen and possibly Derrick Rose now

NYK - Ewing, Frazier, Reed and maybe (Bernard King played only 4 seasons)

Rockets - Hakeem, Moses Malone, Drexler, Barkley, Yao, T-mac, (wouldn't call Murphy a franchise player though)

NOTE: The Player had to be a Star Level Still. So no saying Hakeem on the Raptors. Also the player had to play 3 years for the franchise.

I'd say Moses Malone because he was great in the 5 seasons with the team, but he played 14 seasons for other teams too.

Paul Arizin, Hal Greer, and Neil Johnston were great in their day too, but are on the fence.

Penny is my boy. I guess we can call him a franchise player. He only played three years with the Magic without Shaq. The three years with him, he wasn't a franchise player. Those three years without him, he only played in 128 games...and frankly, we wasn't a franchise player caliber player for the majority of those three years.

He's close...but I stand by Shaq, T-Mac and Dwight only.

I'm not calling you out in particular, but this is just an example of some people being way too liberal with their handing out "franchise player" labels.

A franchise player has to be the BEST player on the team, and has to have been there a minimum of 5 years IMO. And there cannot be more than 1 "franchise player" on a team per era. I also think that a "franchise player" must be HOF bound. So as someone else said, Andre Iguodala may be the best player on the Sixers.....but he is in no way a franchise player.

With that said, here are my franchise players for the Sixers....

I guess I'm more stingy with my classification of a Franchise player. They have to be the best player and the leader of the team. The rallying cry, the guy you build around, the guy who goes down in history for your team as one of the cornerstones of the franchise's history.

That isn't Pippen for the blazers. He came in late, and he was the veteran leadership presence of the team our best player was Rasheed, and the team tried to revolve around Wallace. Also, nobody really looks back at Pippen and puts him near the same level as our former greats.

To me, there have only been three franchise players in Blazers history:

Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler, and Brandon Roy.

The only other guy I would consider is Terry Porter, but he played with Drexler and at no point was he the heart and soul of the team or it's leader over Drexler...

I look at most of your posts and i think that most of you haven't got a clue who a FRANCHISE player is.
A Franchise player is someone who a team can build around. A player who is destined to carry the load for years and years..A Franchise player definately is not the best player on your team. Someone named Ellis, Baron etc the franchise players of their Warrior franchise. If you follow that pattern, then Devin Harris would be the franschise player of the Nets.. And also, an All-Star selection or star status doesnt make one a franchise player..
Be realistic.
Now how can KG and ALlen be the franchise players of the CEltcis? They have been there for 3 years? Pierce is the franchise player, he's the one the celtics have built around, hes the one who has been through the good and bad times..been there for 10+ years.

19-9-2-2 isnt a franchise player?

No. Only exception is if the player is capable of getting 20+ points and 10+ rebounds but is on a very talented team, and just sacrificing stats to better the team, similar to 2007-08 Garnett (best recent example), and even that year, people would argue that he wasnt a franchise player at that point of his career.

Brook Lopez has a LONG way to go before he should be considered a franchise player. Franchise player IMO is someone who not only is the face of the franchise, but is someone who is the definition of that team while they play there. Tim Duncan is who the Spurs were and are. Kobe Bryant is the definition of who the Lakers are. Lebron James is the definition of who the Cavaliers are. Is Brook Lopez the definition of who the Nets are?

I think if you look back at the last decade, maybe there were about 25 franchise players? Maybe?

Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Garnett, Nash, Dirk, Lebron, Wade, Reggie, Iverson, Kidd, Malone, Stockton, Yao, Pierce, Vince, McGrady, Carmelo, Paul, Durant, Roy, Dwight... am I missing anyone?

I also see a lot of guys who could be argued for, but would really be dependent on the definition of "franchise player": Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal (3rd in MVP voting in 2004), Chris Webber, Chauncey Billups, Chris Bosh, Gilbert Arenas, Rasheed Wallace (with Blazers), Pau Gasol (with Grizzlies), Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer...

You consider Maxwell, JO Jo White and Lewis Franchise players?
I don't see how you can have more than 2 franchise players at the same time.

The only ones I'd consider that on the Raptors are Bosh Carter and Stoudemire, Jalen Rose wasn't that good when he came here.

Wow, I didn't realize how many franchise players the Hornets have had since they came in the league in 1988. Hell they have had more franchise players than the Bulls have had in there entire history.
