View Full Version : Video: Kobe hits Andre Iguodala in the balls

No. This isn't a play on words. Kobe actually hit Iggy in the balls during a play over the weekend.

Here's video: http://blogs.uscannenberg.org/neontommy_sports/2010/03/kobe-hits-andre-iguodala-in-th.html

Wasn't it Kobe who used to complain about cheap shots from Bruce Bowen and Raja Bell? Now he's doling out cheap shots with the best of them. Funny how perspective changes when the shoe is on the other foot...

have you ever played a full court tempo game? it could have been an accident

The announcers were just awesome there - "Iggy got the contact. Got him with the left hand. He shoved the shooter in the air... [Replay of the hand check to the gens] That's a foul."

Have you ever played? What does that matter. It wasn't a hit, it was like, a grab, or a pull.

I don't think speed of play dictates whether or not your pull/grab someones junk.

I've played plenty of basketball, I've taken cheap shots and given some, and that was no accident by Kobe. Was it malicious? Hell no. It was a foul, and he got called for it. It's not like he punched Iggy's nutsack, he just gave it a tap.

you go for a hack on his way up, he brings it up too fast, you hit the junk

simple as that

It wasn't an accident, but it wasn't a dirty play IMO. He wasn't in a position to block Iggy's shot, so he tried to disrupt it. He got called for the foul, it wasn't a punch or elbow or anything like that. This is not a big deal at all. Trying to call it an accident is stupid, and anybody that points to this as evidence of Kobe being a dirty player is stupid. And I hate Kobe Bryant btw.

lol, really!?

Anyways, yeah, it was obvious it wasn't an accident, but what a lot of defenders do in basketball, is they hit the sides of a shooter. Like their stomach, or just give a love tap to disrupt the shot a little bit. I'm sure everyone here who plays basketball has had that happen to them. It looked like Kobe knew he was already screwed, so he gave him a little tap, but in the wrong spot.

Anyways, it wasn't malicious, but like others have said, it was a nice little love tap.

I'm sure Iggy enjoyed it a little bit. ;)

How do you know he hit his sack?

I agree that hitting the sack would hurt, but Iggy didn't have any problem with it after the play.

I mean if he got hit in the sack, I'm sure he would have either been on the ground for a sec or he would have at least been grabbing at them. Oh and this post is beginning to sound a little homosexual...

in slow motion it looks bad, at full speed its different, th guy is jumping in the air kobe doesnt know how high hes going to jump. Not malicious at all. If anyone should be pissed its andre, and he doesnt care, should tell you something.

oldenpolynice

May not have been malicious, but it was definitely intentional. There's no questioning that. Kobe went straight for the genitals. No other way about it.

The video doesn't make it look like he was intentionally aiming for his junk but just trying to disrupt the shot.

Actually, this is such a non-issue I can't believe there's a thread devoted to it and that i'm posting on it.

I can't believe there is a thread about this on PSD...that's really sad.

I'm a Lakers fan through and through, make no mistake about it, but the claims found in this thread are ridiculous and are bordering on blatant hate for Kobe.

Just like I can't stand the group of homer Laker fans that think Kobe walks on water, I also can't stand the people that try to find fault with EVERYTHING the man does.

Either point of view is just plain ignorant.

Also, at the Celtics fan who called Kobe Bryant "the biggest scumbag in the NBA", all I can say is really? Really now, come on...

How you can you expect to be taken seriously when you make that statement, and all the while you've got Kevin Garnett on your squad?

Why are you so mad? I'm a lakers fan, and I see it during games. Its subtle, that's why he gets away with it. I'm not even saying its wrong..., it happens, he goes over some of the cheap tricks he uses in some TIME interview.

He pushes off with the back of his hand so the refs can't catch it. I remember hearing that he pulls on players to get a charge call. Its the experience and cleverness of a veteran. If other players think its wrong, they just need to utilize it more.

Yeah he complained by saying Bowen plays hard nose defense and he loved to match up with him; as for Bell it was the other way around as Kobe was using the tricks he learned from Malone and battering him in the post with the elbows

Now as for the incident, it caught me off guard during the game since I was watching it on the phone but I laughed when Isaw the replay and said wow that was a weird accidental moment

Kobe's just a smart player.

And people who claim this is a one time thing, watch kobe play jump shooters. Many times when someone takes a jump shot, he'll tap the shooter at the hip. I'm guess this time he tried to do that, missed, and accidentally hit Iggie's crotch area. I highly doubt this had any malicious intent.

Intentional: Sure.

Malicious: Doubtful.

I doubt he wanted to check him in the balls, but defenders push off all the time when their man goes up for a shot.
