View Full Version : Best PF/C Duo in the League?

Swashcuff

Okay lets not just base this on who are the two best together. Lets take into consideration how well they co-exist, their chemistry and how well their game compliments on another's.

J_M_B
02-28-2010, 04:26 PM
Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Garnett co-exist the best together and probably the best defensive duo as well.

Talent-wise: Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol

As in chemistry between them Zach and Marc.

Talent wise that might be true but they don't coexist well. Bynum sometimes gets lost in the shuffle whilst Odom and Pau on the other hand work beautiful together. Thats just my opinion.

Bosh and Bargnani play well together. They maybe the best offensive PF/C combo.

Man i was thinking about a guy know with that name and unconsciously put it there. Lol!

The reason I did not put Shaq and Jamison is because we have not seen them play together much and it is still up in the air as to if they may be as good together as they have been by themselves. Dirk and Haywood have paid immediate dividends. Shaq and Twan not quite yet.

Bosh and bargnani are a better combination than gasol and randolph. they have two different styles which allows them to be EFFECTIVe on the offensive end. i mean 25 and 12, and 17 and 6? pretty solid.

First off, it should be Bynum/Pau.
Secondly, call me a homer, but Howard and lewis have to be on there.

First off, it should be Bynum/Pau.
Secondly, call me a homer, but Howard and lewis have to be on there.

Why should it be Bynum/Pau they don't play as well together as when Pau and Odom are the on court. When on the court together as the PF/C Odom and Pau work very efficiently. Ask any laker fan and they'd tell you the same.

Since coming from Washington, Haywood has averaged 11.5+ pts, 11.5+ reb, and 3 blks a game.

In this list, we all know Nowitzki is the best PF, no need to even mention his stats.

I don't see how it could be any other option really... not to mention they are on a 6 game win streak from the trade.

MacFitz92
02-28-2010, 10:10 PM
I'd say Nowitzki and Haywood, but then again, thats who I watch the most. And so far that duo has played better then every other duo they've played against.

Call me a homer if you want but there isn't a duo on that list I'd take over Dirk Nowitzki and Brendan Haywood. Dirk is arguably the best PF in the entire league and Haywood with his defense, rebounding, shot blocking and surprising scoring ability compliment him perfectly.

Dwight Howard/Rashard Lewis

They averages combine are 25ppg, 20reb. 5 blocks.

Together they average 18 rebounds and 3.5 blocks. And Howard averages 13.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks you add it up.

Yea, but Dirk is better than Randolph.

Dirk over Zach is obvious but haywood is not better than Marc.

And how can Shaq and Antwan be even considered? They have played 2 games 2gether. And Dirk and Haywood have only played 7 games.

Number has to be hands down Pau and Lamar the candy man
And the Grizz duo is second. They lead in rebounds and points for front court duos

I'm not saying Z Bo and Gasol are bad, but they can't hold a candle to guys who, say, play defense. Or anchor a team that has a better record than the New Orleans Hornets. Or aren't last in the league in opponent FG% (says a lot about Memphis's "defense").

Man do you see them play. Do you look at the chemistry they have together. Their communication, the plays Gasol makes that sets up Randolph so well. Hardly ever will you see both Randolph and Gasol go up for a rebound and bump into each other. The know their place and they play their role well TOGETHER. Unlike say Dwight and Rashard who both have very good numbers but play individually.

I don't care how Howard plays with Lewis at all, they get results. And in a game where wins and losses are all that matters, that's all that anyone should care about. The fact that teams shoot over 47% on field goals against Memphis should tell you how poor they are in post defense, because that number sure isn't that high because of made jump shots. Memphis is tied with post defense lacking teams such as Golden State and New York, with the Nets being just a hair worse.

Please don't talk about silly things like chemistry, it just makes you sound like a homer.

Do you know who leads the league in rebounds? Chicago. Does that make them any good in the weaker conference? No. I know it's exasperating when someone asks you to perform a miniscule amount of analysis but try to hang in there. Rebounding and point production are well and good in the post, but if you aren't stopping the other team from driving on you or posting up then your garbage rebounds aren't going to matter a whole lot.

FYI, 5 better:

Howard/Lewis
KG/Perkins
Gasol/Bynum
Boozer/Okur
Dirk/Haywood

If you want to get into young"ish" guys (like Gasol and sort of like Randolph, since he's only recently gone from being terrible to David Lee-style productive), Noah/Gibon and Horford/Smith are still way ahead.

I'm am aLAKER fan andImNOT BEING BIASED. But Lamaeand Pau are BY FAR the best duo.
Consider this they are probably the only duo that can each get a TRIPLE DoUBLE on any given night.probably the only duo that can each indivually dominate a game.

Consider this.

Scoring

Rebounding

Defense

Offensively and defensively explosive and multi dimensional. Pau and Lamar.
