There is no way this wasn't planned by all parties ahead of time. NO WAY!

Was McDyess back to the Pistons planned? Was Gary Payton back to the Celtics Planned?

Whether you like it or not the 30 day loop hole exists.

I dont think it should either but this is no more illegal than any of those moves.

@214boyz. Nah im not home from work in time for ATH. Cleveland sports radio has been talking about it the moment the trade went down though so thanks Tony Rizzo.

Dont forget the Cavs gave up a huge 1st rd pick next year and the rights to Emir Preldzic. I think Emir is averaging like 6 pts a game in Turkey...

Didn't mean to sound like a dick it's all good though just thought it was funny though the NBA should change the rule next season to prevent this from happending like my man tim said "if they want to return to the same team they should have to wait till next season to do so"

he has 30 days to change his mind... he cant sign 2day or 2marrow. Big Z think, dont let others think for you. i think LB's comments might of affected his choice...

I cannot believe that anyone anywhere doesnt think this was completley planned out ahead of time by all involved parties. The Cavs knew he would be waived and they knew they were gonna get him back and he knew he was gonna come back. I do not beleive the organization would have traded away one of it's 2 centers, leaving its entire playoff run on an aging Shaq's shoulders at the 5, without expecting to get Z back. Don't you think Z would have been a little angry to be traded after dedicating his career to Cleveland... He was quiet and happy as a clam with this trade.
Great move Cavs.
Nice job with the shrug and wink Stern. ;)

He can't play in the playoffs, it's dumb for him and Cleveland.

02-26-2010, 11:22 PM
Yeah, i was panicking when i thought he wasn't going to be able to come back. I don't think it was said or arranged... it was just an unspoken type of deal. Every sports fan knew that Z would be bought out because Washington had no use for him. Z didn't have to say anything. His family is here, his kids were raised here, he has played here his whole career and wants to win a ring with us. But Most importantly his heart is here. He wasn't going anywhere.

Another great trade by Ferry by the way... once again giving up nothing for a great NBA player

haha, what? Yes he can. He was waived before March 1... so he can sign anywhere and be eligible for the playoffs.

He decided to quit? lol

Resign has two meanings... the first definition means to sign again. That's what he meant.

Will it really help the Cavs win the Championship? Z is so inconsistent but its nice to have a back up center to Shaq in case he gets in foul trouble to Howard.... but Z can't keep up with Howard.

Stern should seriously put a tight grip on these side deals because it aint right

iggypop123
02-27-2010, 06:51 PM
everyone knew this was coming. good job by the agent to make it seem the hawks might have had a small chance to talk. just making it look less like a wink wink deal so cavs dont get caught.

If its not against the rules then people should stop complaining. The league should address this in the summer.

I know what he meant. It should be spelled "re-sign", though.

Indeed.

Re-sign: to sign again; to renew or extend a contract.

Resign: to give up (an office, position, etc.), often formally; to relinquish (a right, claim, agreement, etc.); to give or sign over, as to the control or care of another: She resigned her child to an adoption agency; to submit (oneself, one's mind, etc.) without resistance.

Sigh.

Must be nice to just blow off 3 million dollars, which is what Utah and Atlanta could give him over and above what the Cavs will pay Z.

I hope your Celtics offers Big Z a big contract... Anything to prevent Lebron from winning a ring is superb for me. (I want him in NY!) XD

The Celtics can offer him slightly more than the Cavs, but not as much as Atlanta and Utah.

sciferguy

i really hope they get rid of that loophole or at least put some kind of pay cut if they go back to the same team of lets say 60% to pretty much deter any and such action.

If its not against the rules then people should stop complaining. The league should address this in the summer.

It is agaist the rules. If anybody planned it.
The problem is it is a stupid rule without any teeth.
The only way to prove that it was discussed is if one of the benefitting parties comes out and tells on himself. At which point the trade would be annulled and people involved suspended from the league. so who possibly would tell? the Cavs? no they would lose Jamison. The Wiz? No they would lose the cap space they got. Big Z? No he wants to be on the championship team so bad he paid 1.5 mil to get waived. It should be called the shoot yourself in the foot rule, cause the only way to catch someone is if they shoot themselves in the foot.

It's good that he can go back to the team that he loves.

It would be hilarious, though, if he told them that he'd only sign for the remainder of this year...that way he'd be free to do what needs to be done, should LeBron leave.
