View Full Version : Favourite and Best Signature Move

What is your favourite signature move of any player(s) and which one do you think was the best of the most effective. EVER.

Of course I got Allen Iverson's Killer Crossover Dribble. As far as which one I think was the best it had to be Kareem's hook. It was LETHAL.

Notable mentions to TD's Bank Shot, Malone/Stockton Pick and Roll, Magic's No Look Pass, Gervin's Finger roll and of course Jordan's fadeaway.

What your opinions?

Vinsanity's facial is by far my favorite "signature" move from any NBA player. No one has come close to replicating the nastiness of his facials. No one will come close to doing what he did to poor Weis. Him conquering Mourning is the dunk of the decade in the NBA and him over Weis is the greatest dunk of all time. Some of his dunks are permanently trademarked... not legally but because no one will ever be able to replicate them, let alone improve on them (ok maybe one day yes, but not for a while so he's still king here).

As far as best goes, I think this one is easy: Sky hook. That was unstoppable. Magic had arguably the most memorable one but Jabbar was a monster with that move.

I can't tell you the most effective one, but I can tell you my favorite:

It's simple, but Tyreke has a knack for getting around guys like that when he drives and avoiding the defender/charges.

The Kevin Mchale up and under is the greatest and most efficient basketball move in the world. Hook shots are never a guarantee and there one dimensional. The crossover is two dimensional. Getting the ball in the post and establishing the triple threat is 3+ dimensional. So when you young bucks add 12+ points and 4-5 assists plus 2-3 rebounds a game you can come by anytime and say thanks Coach.

D-Wade when he splits two defenders and gets full head of steam to the rim... unstoppable

Tim Hardaways famous killer crossover

Jordan's fadeaway or turnaround jumper

Dream Shake hands down. You know its coming, but how can you defend a shot that is coming from behind the backboard alot of times? of the fake baseline dream shake only to clown the defender and go back into the lane for a power jam or silky hook. only thing on the level is THE sky hook.

Jaji
02-24-2010, 07:48 PM
Even though I like Crawford's "Shake n Bake" it's a fairly easy move to stop. I don't know, maybe because I've always played that strap D but I don't understand how he gets by people every time with it. He ALWAYS goes to the right. Once he sets up, just beat him to the spot. Close off the right and force him back left. Offensive foul, turnover, or a reset at worst.

I'm not sure if these count as signature moves but I like Lebron's blocks from behind defensively. Also this used to annoy me but Kevin Garnett goaltending shots after the whistle is something I got used to seeing and more players are doing it.

I remember Sam Cassel (out of FSU ) was a rookie helping to lead the Rockets to the first of back to back titles.

MJ was so scared of the Rockets, he retired for a year and a half so he wouldn't have to see them :pity:.

right it wasn't a shot. but nope if you watched the game wade grimaced when devin pulled it back. they showed the replay 3 times on YES and it's clear he injured it on the pull back, not the rebound.

I think "the best" have already been pretty thoroughly covered in this thread, so I'll just be a homer and stick with my favorites from my Nuggies:

Melo - Gotta be the jab step. That's his bread and butter. It's actually his quick first step that makes it so effective, because it's just so hard for defenders not to bite when they're afraid of him making a move to the basket.

Billups - His signature move has gotta be the pull-up 3, which is great, but I think my favorite is just when he gets mismatches against smaller point guards and uses his size and strength to bully them down low a little.

K-Mart - Pulling the chair.

How about Andersen's stroke of the stache after getting a block?

:laugh2: Yeah, I have to admit I like that more than the wing flapping. More attitude, yet more subtle at the same time.

Unfortunately, is *real* signature move is leaping into the air at each and every head fake an opponent throws at him. Actually, his play has been getting a lot better lately, but for a while there he was kind of slumping and that was the only notable feature of his game, which was pretty frustrating
