It is 17 million a year for 6 years but a guy re sign with a team can sign for 7 years.

An example is lets say Lebron hit’s the market. The Knicks (and every other team) can offer him 17 million a year for 6 years, but the Cavs can offer him 7 years.

I thought it depended on the salary cap and the number of years played. http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q11

Thanks!! For example if Lebron James signs a max deal with the Knicks it will be the 25% of the salary cap.. Let say the salary cap for next season is 57.7 Mil.. So the MAX deal that they can offer to Lebron is $14.43Mil.. Because He played in NBA for 6 years.. Right??

this year will be his seventh so he'll qualify for 30% of the cap.

The contract lengths were shortened a few years ago. You can only sign guys from your own team to six year deals, guys who you sign from a different team can only be signed to five year contracts.
