View Full Version : Will Durant break Jordan's record?

Swashcuff

Right now he is at 28 (passed my man A.I. but hey I'm not hating) and counting. He needs 13 more 25+ points games in a row to pass Michael Jordan for the most consecutive games with 25 points or more. Do you guys think he can do it.

Why do you think that a player scoring is an individual glory hog who doesn't care about winning? Points are important, they actually decide the game...

And I'm sure he was jacking up shots just to get this record that they lost all those games.... oh... that's right, their on an insane winning streak and have a winning record.

Get your point hate outta here!

WHAT are you talking about?

They're 20-8 on this run with a 9 game win streak and are closing in on the 4th seed in the Western Conference. I think they have their priorities straight. Pretty sure I wouldn't be too concerned if I were a Thunder fan.

I only WISH my team had a team/personal streak like this going, everyone in the NBA does.

Edit: Yes, I think he does it.

There's so much stupidity in this comment I'm wondering whether or not to actually respond...

Let's just say that if you DID look at FG%, you'd find that at 47.8% on 20.4 shots a game it's better than Wade's (46.6 on 19.8), Kobe's (46.1% on 22.4), and Melo's (46% on 21.5).

I'm guessing that you think Erick Dampier is the best in the game?

I can see what you mean 'Crooner, but it isn't like Durant is chucking up 30 dumb shots per night. He's shooting about 20 shots per game, is hitting 48% of them and has a PER of 25.1. For a guy who's 21 years old, those are some incredible stats.

Just how good are they for a guy of 21 years? Look for yourself. (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=duranke01&y1=2010&p2=jordami01&y2=1985&p3=bryanko01&y3=2000&p4=jamesle01&y4=2006)

he is a great player and i have something telling me that he is going to be the BESST player in the whole league in 3 years. and that HE and not Lebron is goign to be the REAL menace to consensus goat MJ ( not my goat but thats another story)

what im teling is individual records mean nothing , his best thing to be better han jordan is have his team get success EARLIER than Jordan did.

It kills me to say it, because he's my favorite player; but I honestly don't see it happening. 13 games is a lot more games, and I don't know. I just feel like he's going to have an off night soon, although I really hope not.

Regardless, he's streaking at 28 and the Thunder are streaking at 9, so it's all good for me right now.

No because his run is going to come to an end tomorrow night against the best defensive team in the league, the Phoenix Suns!

But seriously, he has a very good chance at breaking MJs record. He is such a great scorer and is virtually unstoppable.

What people don't realize is the fact that he's had some off nights, and still always gets his 25+. He'll be the first to tell you that he's had plenty of off nights during this streak. That's a pretty scary thought. Call me a homer, but I think he's gonna break Jordans record.

But if he doesn't, it won't bother him one bit. He cares about the team winning much more than any individual records. Those kind of achievements are great no doubt, but the team comes first with KD.

I think the scariest part is that when you are comparing those 4 players, that's MJ's ROOKIE season.

True, that's intense. But, he also played 3 years as the centerpiece for the best team in the nation, in the toughest conference in the nation. He was pro ready (well obviously, but more than most college kids would be).

Those numbers are all just insane for 21 year olds any way you want to cut it though. The GOAT, a great, and who knows, maybe two challengers to the GOAT.

The Thunder's schedule for the next 13 games:

February
Tue 23 vs Phoenix
Wed 24 @ San Antonio
Fri 26 vs Minnesota
Sun 28 vs Toronto
March
Tue 02 vs Sacramento
Wed 03 @ Denver
Fri 05 @ LA Clippers
Sun 07 @ Sacramento
Wed 10 vs New Orleans
Fri 12 vs New Jersey
Sun 14 vs Utah
Wed 17 @ Charlotte
Fri 19 @ Toronto

Anyone wanna change their predictions based on this?

Spurs, Nuggets and Bobcats would be my guesses to have the best chances of shutting KD below 25. Personally, I think he takes the streak to Charlotte and LB finds a way to shut the kid down. Bobcats play great D and they can put either Crash or Jack on him the whole night.

One player can't guard him. Charlotte tried that earlier in the streak and he put up 30 in a win over them pretty easily. Teams that have the best chance at limiting his scoring are those that double team him off of the ball. Though Minnesota did that two nights ago and he still dropped 32 on only 16 attempts.

I thought the best chance they had at ending the streak was going to be the game directly after the all star break, where he (and the rest of the people involved in AS weekend) were dead tired. And it almost did end there, but he still pulled it off at the end.

His ability to either draw a foul with his rip up shot when the defender's too close -- or drop it in their face when they leave him too much room. It's a sick combo. And with his 3p% at up over 50% over the last couple months, and his FT% at around 90% at 10 attempts a game, it's almost unfair.

On off night WILL happen eventually where he only puts up 22 or 23, but I don't see this streak ending any time soon.

More or less what I was thinking. It's gonna take a good defensive team and an off night from KD for his streak to be stopped. Plus the Cats are the best defensive team they will be facing during this streak, which helps a bit.

Either the Spurs or Cats have got the best chance at stopping that streak, however little that chance is. I just don't know who the Spurs can put on him though, RJ? Cats at least can go with a combo of Crash-Jax to attempt to slow him down.

So far this season he has put up 25 and more recently 35 against the Spurs.

Edit: It is seriously embarrassing how bad the other shooters on the Thunder offense are. They're young, dynamic players, and great team defenders... but for fun tonight I wanted to count how many open passes from Durant they miss. So far I have counted EIGHT. Two of them layups. This kid would average 5-6 assists a game on an even average offense.

Durant = 36pts (13/24) 8reb 3ast 2st 2TO's. Great game.

Rest of team = 66pts (25/62) .......embarrassing. Led to their first loss in 10 games. Good game by PHX.

Yup, figured this would be the game if any. I watched it though, Scott Brooks sat him for half of the fourth quarter in a tie game, then once he got in, Westbrook and Jeff Green were the only ones touching the ball. And they weren't making their shots. It was absolutely ridiculous. Durant had 21 at the end of three, figured he wouldn't have much of an issue putting another 25 together. The couple times he did touch it though it was rimming out. Too bad.

Either way, good run. Team looked pretty good for 3 quarters coming off a tough back to back and playing in San Antonio. Hopefully they can put another run together, fun to watch.
