Should a team retire a player's number if that player is not Hall of Fame bound?

Case in point: Bulls have retired Jerry Sloan's and Bob Love's number.

Yes if the player has done enough things for them like taking the team to relevance or if he has stayed loyal to the team for more than a decade scoring important minutes and being relevant.

Yes. Not every player will make it to the HOF, nor should they. But every team has at least one unheralded player worth recognizing. If the team wants to retire their number, so be it.

That said, it's not like teams have never unretired a number before.

It's their franchise, they should retire whoever's jersey they want to... Maybe that player didn't stamp his name in the league's history books, but they could still be a big part of that franchise.

Yes, definitely. Just because they don't make the HOF doesn't mean that they haven't made a huge contribution to the team.

If a player has done a lot for a franchise, his jersey should be retired. Guys likes Dirk and Duncan are a definite to get their jersey's retired when they call it quits.

The decision should be left up to the individual organizations, to let them make the decision. The NBA as a whole shouldn't dictate to organizations whos number they can and cannot retire.

Of Course you should....To get your jersey retired you don't need to put up HOF numbers, just help your team drastically

If someone was with a team their whole career but didnt exactly have a HOF career i think they can do it
one that comes to mind is Big Z in cleveland
dont think hes quite hall of fame but i think the cavs should do it

Yea. One can be the best player a team has ever had ,but that does not mean his entire career ends up being HOF worthy.
