Neither Josh Howard nor Caron Butler could handle Kobe in the past, and Haywood is an upgrade, but I have to say Lakers are still holding it down.

What about Shawn Marion?

Wow, you should probably have San Antonio in this poll as well.

I could have, but then I'd also have to include a plethora of teams.

Well 95% would say that these 3 teams are the three top teams now.

We need to see how Dallas looks with this line up first.

I wouldn't turn my back on San Antonio, they always are scary and proven in the playoffs. I wouldn't take in to account their regular season record as much as everyone does, they are built for the playoffs and aren't going to risk injury by putting it all out there before then.

And any one of these teams could make a run.

I would still have to give the edge to the Lakers

Yea, but I'm trying to see where people stand on the stance of the best team. And these three are really the only teams you could consider.

If chemistry clicks for Dallas, then Dallas. They're as good as anyone on paper but have to prove it on the court. We shall see.

Nicely put. I think that this team doesn't click without Kidd, which is why I think they can do it. Kidd is one of the best facilitators in the game, even at this point of his career.

Maybe it's just me but I really like Mavericks now (hopefully they gel quickly).

What Mavs really lacked was a bit toughness and Butler and Haywood provide just that. People may not know but Haywood is one of the best post defenders in the game today and his long hands DO bother shots inside. If Marion and Butler can provide some scoring punch then I like Mavs to upset Lakers.

This means, Nuggets and Spurs better make a move to get better or it will be really hard.

Lakers but I expect the Mavs in the semi-finals with them.

It's definitely the Lakers unless the refs call things 50-50 in the playoffs. Even then, I still think the Lakers have the best team but it would be nice to see them earn it without getting every close call go their way. They own too many matchups as it is.

Lakers.....experience will be a factor come playoff time.

Lakers.....experience will be a factor come playoff time.

You say that like the Mavericks are unexperienced. Let's not forget they have guys like Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki on their team.

I think the "experience" comes when one team is experienced and one team isn't experienced. I don't think experience is much of an issue when one team is a little more experienced than the other.

If caron butler can play like he used to...yikes the mavs will be scary

Also, take the individual matchup in to perspective.

Jason Kidd > Derek Fisher
Caron Butler < Kobe Bryant
Shawn Marion = Ron Artest
Dirk Nowitzki > Pau Gasol
Brendan Haywood < Andrew Bynum

A good move for the Mavs, but I'm not sold on them being world beaters just yet. The championship still runs through LA as far as I'm concerned. Even if the Lakers were to limp to an 8th seed, I'd still say that.

Everytime Dallas or Spurs or anyone else for that matter makes a major move, it automatically makes them better than the nuggets. I don't know what the infaturation is with the nuggets, but people always seem to count them out, and what happens, the nuggets end up proven them wrong. This will hurt the cavs in my opinion, because of chemistry issues. You just don't know how its gonna work out. Im even further convinced that my boy Melo is back to form, watching that allstar game, and billups did his thing to. The stars came out to play, and I think you will see this translate to the secound of the season. And don't be suprise to see the nuggets pick up thomas from the bulls because, K mart isn't going to be playing in alot of these games coming up, and we need that extra insurance, so look for a move, not anything major that would involve any of the nuggets rotational players, but something will get done. But once again, count out the nuggets if you want to, but I believe they are the only team when fully healthy, that can challenge the lakers for that number one spot. Keep Sleeping Fellas

1. Lakers
2. Nuggets
3a. Jazz
3b. Thunder
3c. Mavs

That's the way I see it right now. The only reason I have the Mavs as one of the "3's", is because of the trade. Otherwise, OKC and Utah have been outperforming Dallas by far. So it all relies on the trade.

Me as a Laker fan the only team I dont wanna see is.......the Blazers and thats who we'd face if the season ended today(thank god it doesn't) I'm not worried about the Mavs or the Nuggets at all.

How about we wait until after the trade deadline for this?
