View Full Version : Robinson Might Skip Dunk Contest

02-10-2010, 12:15 AM
Nate Robinson is nursing a groin injury, which may prevent him from competing in Saturday's dunk contest.

"He has to tell me how he feels," Mike D'Antoni said. "I have no idea how he feels. And if it bothers him, obviously the best thing to do is to rest it. But if he's OK to compete, it's a fun weekend and the NBA has asked him to do something and he's the defending [champion] -- so I can understand why he wants to. But he has to know his body and know what's best for him."

If he does, who get's the nod?

Terrance Williams , Derrick Rose, Westbrook, Lebron might change his mind.

02-10-2010, 12:37 AM

T-Will should enter

02-10-2010, 12:46 AM
If he skips it, they should just scratch the dunk in. I don't feel it makes sense if they just let someone else in..

02-10-2010, 12:51 AM
just give DeRozan a guaranteed spot

02-10-2010, 12:53 AM
This may sound mean but: go groin injury! Go!

02-10-2010, 12:56 AM
I hope he isn't a part of it.

Terrence Williams

02-10-2010, 01:09 AM
Nate is too boring and IMO shouldn't have won either of his dunk crowns, it would be a godsend not to watch him in the dunk contest again.

It was mentioned above, and I agree that Terrence Williams would be a great replacement.

^ how do you not like nates dunks. i thought they were pretty entertaining especially that little ghetto jig he did afterward

Iggy deserved to beat him after his 15th attempt at the between the legs dunk and last year he won by catapulting himself off of Dwight's body.

He has nothing new to show us and really bored me last season, I'll be damn happy if he can't go (unless it means that Eric Gordon will [even Nate isn't that bad]).

02-10-2010, 01:29 AM
my main guess would be rose, they might just get rid of the dunk off and let both eric and demar dunk.

02-10-2010, 01:30 AM
who cares nate sucks anyway

02-10-2010, 01:31 AM
Common sense....

cancel the dunk-in and put both Gordon and DeRozan in the contest to join Shannon and G-Wall. There, u have ur 4 contestants

02-10-2010, 01:31 AM
No biggy. I think we've pretty much seen everything that the little man can do. It'd be good to have a fresh line-up.

Nate may not have deserved to win the dunk competition 2 years ago vs Iggy but then Howard didn't deserve to win it either. That bs attempt at throwing the ball in the hoop isn't a dunk at all and yet it got a 50.

02-10-2010, 01:52 AM
tbh I think it is stupid defending your dunk contest crown. I can understand the 3 point one, but would you really want to be in it twice? It feels like a one time thing you want to experience. Plus, one guy can only have so much creativity.

02-10-2010, 04:22 AM
I know Nate want T-Will in it.

02-10-2010, 09:52 AM
Rose or Corey Brewer

02-10-2010, 10:06 AM
Lets get Igoudala in there.

02-10-2010, 10:08 AM

02-10-2010, 10:20 AM

02-10-2010, 10:48 AM
Lets get Igoudala in there.

and where'd you hear that info.
haha should've said very likely.

Finding out tomorrow if I'm in the dunking contest

" IF " I'm in the dunk contest I need some ideas fast an please be serious

I didn't say I was in it I said I might be in it so don't keep asking how I'm in ithttp://twitter.com/TheRealTWill/status/8797374045

nate robinson was vouching for twill before but now with his injury, i think he'll be the replacement. over the weekend i thought twill would replace gerald wallace. at this point if the bobcats don't want to risk gforce getting injured, twill is a top candidate to get in.

they should keep the derozan vs gordon thing.

02-10-2010, 11:50 AM
here's the article that says why he might be in it:

02-10-2010, 11:54 AM
thats good. Not a fan of Robinson's dunks. That kryponate thing was whack.

02-10-2010, 12:08 PM
who cares nate sucks anyway

I agree... I don't wanna watch him anymore, it was cool the first time cause he was small, but he takes way to long and I don't have the time to watch 50 tries at a dunk that another contestant could do easily

02-10-2010, 12:47 PM
DeRozan or Westbrook. No DRose

02-10-2010, 01:01 PM
Whats with all the Nate hate?

02-10-2010, 01:02 PM
give him another center to dunk on.. He'll be in it

02-10-2010, 01:02 PM
If hes not in it though, I would like to see DeRozan compete.

Lebron this is your last chance to enter!!!!!!! :p:p:p

But on a serious note, I expect them to just cancel the Dunk-in and put Demar and Eric Gordon in....I really wanted to see T-Will though cuz he's had some nasty dunks this season

02-10-2010, 01:48 PM
Lebron this is your last chance to enter!!!!!!! :p:p:p

02-11-2010, 08:53 AM
I wouldn't mind Nate skipping it. He has been hogging the contest ever since ge got drafted.

02-11-2010, 10:37 AM
josh smith please :)

02-11-2010, 12:33 PM
Ronnie Brewer should get a chance, if he didnt play for the jazz i think he would already be in one of the dunk contests, he is a high flyer

02-11-2010, 01:04 PM
jonas jerebko baby

02-11-2010, 01:21 PM
this is perfect for nate he really didn't want to do the dunk contest again. I hope T-will gets in.

02-11-2010, 01:23 PM
Iguodala said he wont ever be in tha dunk contest again... since he got robbed a few years ago

02-11-2010, 01:27 PM
Any Pacer fan knows that the only reason the Pacers have Josh McRoberts is for pre-game dunks...he makes the crowd interested during shoot-around. I hope McRoberts gets the nod, because it's the only thing he will ever accomplish in the NBA.

02-11-2010, 01:37 PM
Whats with all the Nate hate?

He's been boring up our dunk contests! I get it, he's short. Spud Webb was shorter and his dunks were actually cool and not just because he was a little pygmy lol.

Iguodala did get robbed in my opinion and last year was way to theatrical and was not focused enough on the dunking - which I am pretty sure I could climb up Dwight Howard and leap frog his shoulders to the rim. (Also whoever mentioned Dwight's 1st superman dunk before: I agree so not a dunk - he didn't make it to the basket but threw it in.

Finally, I'm tired of the old dunkers being judges, get the media guys in there and you won't need the fans (who are player and team biased). These old guys don't appreciate our generations dunkers because they think they can do it or do it better imo.

02-11-2010, 06:08 PM
Give DeRozan his spot, and if they are so firm on having this dunk-in then put Terrence Williams against Eric Gordon.
