View Full Version : Worst starter in the NBA?

C-Van
02-09-2010, 11:46 PM
Who, in your opinion, is the worst starting player in all of the NBA. For the sake of discussion, we'll define a starter as someone who plays around 28 minutes a game, and starts around 60% of his team's games.

This is open to your own interpretation, so it doesn't have to be a player who doesn't score many points. If you feel like a player is bad because he shoots a low percentage, or he doesn't play defense, or he is a big man who plays soft, or whatever...this is your opinion.

GO!

His man D is pretty bad, but his help D is decent. Plus his length alter shots and he gets the occasional block. You by no means would be able to dominate him or even score 1 bucket. I still think Amare has the worst D for a PF. For christ sake, he should be much better given his athleticism.

Teams like the knicks are trashing some of their players and I will gladly say that I think Willie Green is the wrost starter in the NBA. You don't need to be so defensive of your team. As you well know, you have only won 4 games (no offense) so every player on the team cant be a "solid player" or amazing

nah that can't be right. we're talking about the worst starter in the leauge here. i'd imagine it's a system player like roger mason, rasual butler, vladmir radmanovic, ronnie brewer, nazr mohammed, jj hickson, arron afflalo, luther head etc. how good would these guys be if they weren't standing on the court with a legitimate superstar most of the time? don't let the records fool you. a guy who can do only a couple of things well can help teams succeed as long as they already have go to guys.

Tyson Chandler is far worse than Duhon at thier respected positions. Duhon ast to TO ratio is among the top PG's in the league, sure he can't shoot worth a daan or score the ball consisitantly, but that isn't his job. His stls are solid, and his asts are above avg. Chandler ont he other hand has stared 25 ganmes this year getting close to 27 minutes per game. His scoring is 6.5PPG rebounds are 6.87RPG, he averages twice as many t.o.'s as he does blocked shots and he isn;t a guythat handles the ball, which means anytime he makes a post move it gets stripped. His ast average is .4, and stl average is .3. He is by far the worst starting player this year, I agree Duhon isn't a top caliber player but I'd rather have him at PG than Tyson Chandler at C.

ElFuturoDeESPN
02-10-2010, 04:37 PM
When he starts, I'll go with Steve Blake:
Just over 7 points per game, just under 4 assists, 39% FG percentage. Averaging 28 minutes per game, but started quite a bit this first half of the season.

How can anybody on a 4-47 team get considered to be a "Beast" night in and night out? You don't even need to watch basketball to know that.

Honestly even Brook Lopez isn't that good. Averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds on possibly the worst team in NBA history is not good enough. I keep on saying this but Clarence Weatherspoon put up nearly identical season numbers for Sixers back in the day. Considering the dearth of anybody else who can cut into his playing time, Brook Lopez isn't doing nearly as much.

That being said, I nominate
