The Raptors should be able to butt slap the Sixers tomorrow night.

Hopefully yes. We're at home, and PHI are on a back to back, while we didn't play a game for 2 days.

But, PHI are the 2nd best team in fast breaks, and for the last couple of game, we had alot of TO's.

Lakers/Jazz could be pretty good...

I'd be very confident of a win in that, but it being the second night of a back to back changes things. I think we can still roll out with a 10th straight victory

Bynums not playing, is Kobe? He's the only guy that turns up to play in SLC, could be a good learning experience for your other guys him not playing.

Kobe's questionable at the moment. He said that if he can push off his ankle then he'll play. The Lakers have been impressive in the two games without Kobe, it would be really interesting to see how Pau performs if Kobe has to miss another game. Like you said our guys struggle in SLC a lot.

I wonder if the Lakers try putting Ron Artest on Deron Williams...

Yeah...that Utah/LAL game should be good. I think it's the first time I've picked against LA all year (besides maybe a Cleveland game). It's especially hard considering Utah will be playing their second game in two games...but I think they'll pull it off. They're the second hottest team in the league, very good at home, and LA is banged up, whether or not Kobe plays.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Kobe Bryant remains a game-time decision following the Lakers shootaround Wednesday but it appears unlikely that he will play against the Utah Jazz.

"It's not looking very good, he didn't go out and shoot around," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We're not expecting him to go."

----

Andrew Bynum did not participate in shoot around either and said that his bruised right hip will cause him to miss his second straight game.

----

Odom, who left practice on Monday to receive a MRI and CAT Scan on his sore right foot, will play.

Pau's numbers from the past two games combined:

18-35 FG / 43 points / 38 rebounds / 12 assists / 10 blocks / 2 steals

The 8 turn overs (6 tonight against Utah) are rough, but apart from that he's just been amazing. Those are Dwight Howard numbers in rebounding and blocks. The whole team has stepped up with Kobe and Andrew hurt, but Pau has stepped up x10.

our game finnished 20 hours before tip off. The game ended at around 11:15 utah time, probably got on the flight just past midnight, then got in around 2am, they wouldnt have got to sleep until around 3, and then had to get up for morning practice. It must take alot out of you, plus playing a team coached by Jackson the next day is probably the last thing you want to be doing the next day in altitude

missed free throws, turnovers, lack of effort on defense...all can be linked to fatigue

Add in the fact that you have done that before and played 50 games already, and are probably pretty banged up from the season. At this point in the season, if you aren't hurting, you haven't been playing.

He wasn't making an excuse. He was answering someone's question as to why team's have trouble on the 2nd game of a back to back.

Iíve been particularly sensitive to back-to-backs this season because my beloved Nuggets were rewarded with a Western Conference high 22 of them (compared to the Lakers having 19). Additionally, Iíve sat through a number of snoozers at Pepsi Center (including a 26-point victory over the Lakers) because Nugget opponents were playing the second of a back-to-back. Through games as of last weekend, NBA teams playing the second of a back-to-back had collectively lost 147 times compared to just 73 wins. And in those losses, the average point differential was 12.7. In other words, these games are usually blowouts and a waste of fan money. As you can see, itís not just NBA teams who suffer from too many back-to-backs; the fans suffer, too.

how can you say that? We were lathargic and lacked energy. At home we always go on runs, and today we'd turn the ball over or do something stupid. You cant be that self involved in your own team to not acknowledge that. Becuase of the missed free throws, turnovers and failing to get back from them and giving up a ton of points we put ourselves in a hole we couldnt get out of. You dominated from the tip to the finnish, but that played a big part it why we came out flat tonight.

anyway congrats on the win, you deserved it by a mile. We need some length badly. Badly badly, especialy if we want to roll with you. The break has come at a welcome time for us.

Sounds like an excuse to me. So what if they had a back to back? We are playing with 2 of our starters! One being Kobe Bryant, and Utah was at home. Before coming into this game Utah was 32-18 I believe. I'll be honest, knowing the troubles Lakers have beating the Jazz on their home floor, I didn't think they would beat them tonight. But to come out with the excuse of "Oh the Jazz were back to back" is nonsense. I'm sure if Jazz won, we would not be talking about this right now.

Have you seen the records of teams on their 2nd game of a back to back?
73-147: That's a 33% win percentage. On top of that the average margin of defeat is 12.7 points.

Good points. Either way, Jazz should of won....we were basically handicaped out there. I even heard your Jazz annoucers make referece to the line up we had out there:

Farmar
Brown
Walton

I could understand if the game was at Staples, but it was on your home floor with no Kobe no Bynum. Lakers simply outhustled the Jazz. Even if the Jazz had a back to back, they should of still won. Simple as that.

so when the lakers got blown out by 30 odd by Denver on the second night of a back to back that was purely because the Nuggets outclassed you guys and were that superior than you? Give me a break.

Dude I know. If Lakers had a fully healthy team out there and still won, okay then I can take into account that Jazz played last night, but dude, realize we are without Kobe Bryant and Bynum! 2 of our starters. Some of our bench players are playing heavy minutes (Sasha) that barely sees anything when Lakers are healthy. All of this on the Jazz home floor.

it happens, we've won 9 straight, our last defeat was the last time we played on the second night of a back to back. Also, the point that annoys me most is that you have a good following in our building, so at points of our bad play it must have felt like we were on the road getting booed at the line etc, stupid salt lake laker bandwagoners. This season we've lost 6 games at home more or less in the same fashion where we've come out flat and the other teams field goal percentage has been 50%+ and theyve ran us out of the gym, we have to accept that your going to have nights like that. Flush it down the toilet Jazz, forget about it, a week off now and come back fresh for the road trip with 4 winnable games and only 1 back to back.

Yeah I know, you guys have had a lot of players step up. I'm not saying the back to back was the sole reason why the Lakers won, but it was a factor.

Agreed, but Jim was making it seem that the back to back was the reason they lost.

Jimmybobby is British he can't help it. Once I tuck him in and give him some tea and crumpets he will be fine.

it wasnt the reason, it was a factor. The Boozer/Gasol matchup was another one, Gasol whiped the floor with him. Another factor was your agresiveness as opposed to our tactic of settling for poor jump shots, like Lamar Odom. Your length to was annoying, we'd have AK or Booz on gasol and it felt like he'd just drop it over them. And then you have role player performances like Farmar who couldnt miss and Shannon Brown put in a shift tonight.

for us, AK and Wes Matthews are the only players that gave themselves a respectable showing. That would have been the worst triple double in history had Deron got 1 more rebound

I'll chime in.

Back-to-backs are a big deal. It's not an excuse, it's a fact. The Jazz didn't lose because of it, but it certainly didn't help.

^We deserved to lose by a mile, but I'm pretty confident we would have put up a better chance had we not played the night before.

In regards to Kobe and Bynum missing, we lost to the Nuggets without Billups and Melo at home, lost to the Kings with no KMart, lost to the Rockets with the season injuries they have...we get out hustled by teams too easily. And when you add the talent of the Lakers to their hustle, we were never going to win.

Had a pretty good night yesterday:

Wins
2 game Parlay: Warriors +2/Over 214
Bucks -5.5
Lakers ML +190
Kings +4.5
Magic -5
Raptors -6
Timberwolves-Bobcats Under 200

and the one bet I lost was Bobcats -2.5 which was irritating because the Cats were up big going into the 4th.
