Stoudemire may stay in Phoenix
By Mark J. Miller / Sports Rumors

There was apparently a lot of talk between the Phoenix Suns and New Jersey Nets about sending Amar'e Stoudemire(notes) to the Eastern Conference doormat, but those talks appear to be over and the word is that Stoudemire might not get traded at all, according to the New York Daily News.
Stoudemire can opt out of his contract this offseason and join the seven billion other top-shelf NBA free agents that will be wandering the land, such as LeBron James(notes), Chris Bosh(notes), and Dwyane Wade(notes). But yesterday he said that he may just leave the wandering to others and go ahead and stay in Phoenix. He's hearing that a contract extension may be offered to him pretty soon, too.
Conventional wisdom had Stoudemire getting traded and then finding a new team this summer.
Life is full of surprises.

i was just thinking maybe there giving him a extension in order to trade him, that way whoever trades for him doesnt have to worry about a rental

I think if he signs for 16-17 million a year, and we can go out and sign free agents to get better. I hope he does sign a extension, but not for a max contract.

ive always thought that it was a good idea to build around STAT He always had talent around him. Just had missed oppurtunities with injuries, suspensions, and gambling refs. He has been playing well.

Kerr will likely offer an extension of 14-15 mil. If he doesn't accept, then they will move him for best offer.

I heard they were trying to trade him. I say let Amare stay in Phoenix... he might actually have to learn how to play D if he goes to a new team.
