How are the Lakers a 1 point favorite over the Celtics in Boston?

They also were a 2 point favorite over Boston in Boston in Game 1 of the 2008 Finals.

Don't see how the road team in the finals can be the favorite over the home team.

Even though they shouldn't have been, the Celtics were seen as big underdogs going into that NBA Finals. Not many people were picking the Celtics to win.

As far as today, I think people are placing too much on the Celtics recent losses to Atlanta and Orlando, whereas the Lakers' loss to Cleveland is a week ago and pretty much forgotten :laugh2:

It should be a great game though. The Celtics will probably want to beat up Andrew and Pau, and if they don't respond it's going to be tough for LA to win it.

If they don't respond, then Kobe Bryant is 47 points behind Jerry West for the Lakers all time scoring leader. What if he gets those 47 points in a win in Boston? That would be fantastic...

If it does come down to that though, I don't know if the Lakers will be able to win. The Celtics are just too good for one man to beat them I think.

Hey JB look at the boston's home record and the lakers road record, they are basically the same!

and the lakers have been playing better basketball than celtics this year!

SO, the point, yes the lakers are the favourites!:)

The refs have taken Paul Pierce and Ron Artest out of the game straight away which sucks. It appears the officials are already afraid of losing control of this one...

I hate refs. This isn't basketball. The college game should not allow so much more contact than the pro game, it should be the other way around.

Also, I hate that teams take out players with 2 fouls in the 1st. Chances are, Pierce gets 4 fouls this game, not 5 or 6, and he's wasting away on the bench.

Wilson

Me neither. It's just frustrating sometimes though when there's so many calls. It was like this in the '09 play-offs, there was no fluidity a lot of the time.

its not how many fouls are called its when they are called. they called like 7 tick tack fouls at the start of the game on the celtics then let them go on a rampage and get away with anything the rest of the half. every game that happens in has the same outcome: a loss. watch celtics will have bunch of calls against them to start the 2nd half then once again be allowed to go on a rampage to easily win the game. it's called momentum. called this game weeks ago.

lol. I love Lakers fans. They have the best team in basketball but make up excuses for why they might lose weeks in advance. What other team does that? The Lakers got to the line 7 times in the first quarter and 5 in the second. Not a huge difference (and unsurprising considering how opposite the quarters were in every fashion). The momentum switch wasn't because of the refs, it was because the Celtics started playing well and the Lakers started playing not so well (and missing free throws - you heard the crowd after Kobe clanked both. Can't blame the refs for that).

I have no idea why the Lakers have abandoned the pick and roll tonight, it was working to perfection earlier in the week. I know the Celtics are a different animal to the Raptors and Wizards, but what we're doing isn't going to work.

Kobe played terrible, but dang is he clutch. Boston's gotta pick it up, they should've won this game, LA's playing their 7th road game in a row and you just gotta win this game. That being said, did anyone else notice how Boston seemed to play almost confused when KG is out there? It was weird, whenever he got into the game the momentum swung to LA's side. He's not healthy, and he should rest until after the all-star break, just to give him more time. I could be wrong, i mean maybe he is healthy and struggling to get back into rhythm, but man Perkins was their best post player tonight. And for KG... please don't trash talk anymore, Bynum smashed it on your face after that exchange. I hope Boston picks it up though, i wanna see a healthy Celts vs a healthy lakers team in the finals.

46 points in the first quarter!!! That must be the highest this season...

11-13 from deep and 16-21 overall.

That must be close to the record for most threes in a quarter by a whole team... I know the individual record is held by Michael Redd with 8.

They should have had Shaq shoot a three. The ultimate heat check...:p

The way the Cavs are shooting at the moment, I wouldn't have been surprised if he hit it... Z just hit one.

12 made so far... What's the Magic record for threes in a game, 23?

stern should be able to step in and force gordon to go to a legit team. his career is wasting with the clippers

great ending to a weird game..... rondo was fantastic, but he still needs to improve that jump shot......pierce didn't play his best today (ron had something to do with that)....gasol is still soft as charmin......bynum should've gotten the ball a lot more, because that's when the lakers were at their best.........kobe was awful, but he hit the game winner.......and it might be time for ray allen to get traded.....he no longer is a knock down 3 point shooter.

I look at it this way, Rondo can do whatever the hell he wants because that means he is stopping Pierce, KG, or Allen from doing something

The Cavs O is sick tonight

If the Clips actually show up and make a game of this LeBron will drop 50. You can tell he's feeling it just from the way he's moving around the court and his energy.

The only thing that'll stop him breaking 50 will be a blowout... Which I can see happening.

Great game in Boston. Passion and excitement even before tip-off.

46 points in a quarter.......holy ****.

This could be the most disappointing 23 point individual half ever. Start scoring again LeBron!

Can you actually do that? Call in an early night?

 I'm sure the coach could excuse someone if he wanted to, but I wouldn't want to be the first guy to ask for the night off for no reason :laugh2:

Baron Davis has come out on fire, and is actually trying to make a game of it, which is good to see.

and just like that the Clippers come right back. Baron scoring in the lane pretty much every possession. Still an 18 point lead, but it was 30 just a couple minutes ago.

The Nuggets won despite not having Carmelo or bad officiating against them. Chauncey Billups is the man in Denver...he is still their most indispensable player.

Meanwhile the Spurs continue to defend like wimps. How many open jumpers are you gonna give Kenyon Martin? I shake my head in disbelief.
