:speechless::speechless:

The Hornets get a big man they can utilize off the bench behind Okafor and West, and The Bulls land a guard/forward that can be productive off the bench behind Salmons.

LOL I like it for both teams, we get closer to the luxury tax line and we get a big to backup Okafor, also Thorton gets to start now!!

Thorton is going to take this league over.

Not Paul and Rose.

All I can say to Hornets fans is... Enjoy.
He can be to Paul what Shaq is to Bron. He doesn't **** around. The West has many good centers, but at least in the East he was probably a top 3-5 center. Just relax, sit down, and enjoy the Panther.

This trade only saves New Orleans $50,000. Does that get them out of the luxury? If so, that's a "blockbuster" move for NO. For Chicago, they barely improve.

I did think that West was heading to Chicago for like Jerome James and a 1st or something.

Thanks for the update Vinny. I know it's got to be close, and NO will definitely do something to get out from underneath it. They need that $4.5 million paid to all the teams that stay under the luxury.

Does Chicago getting Brown signal a bigger trade where Salmons or Pargo is involved? I hope something happens because there has been too many rumors going around with nothing actually happening. I want to see a deal with Amare, Boozer or Bosh in the title very soon. That would deserve the "blockbuster" title.

True not denying that.

Hornets would be nuts to even consider trading CP3 and I don't think they will ever do it - especially when CP3 is in his prime.

As for the trade, both teams should be happy with what they got. Minor trade but IMO, this could mean that 1 or 2 of Hinrich/Salmons/Deng are out the door.

i bet if any one of you people were the proud parents of those 2 athletes, youd be like,

Ovratd1up

I'd consider it if there was also a deal to trade Hinrich for expirings. But for now no. But West is definitely on my list of good fours to keep an eye on, even as a last resort after Bosh, Amare, Boozer, etc.

I believe it saves them close to $200k

Brown=1.1m
Grey=1.000497m

So that's $99,503 x 2= $199,006 in savings.

Lo Porto

I like this trade because it all but says that Chicago has another trade up their sleeve. There is no point getting Brown and dumping a cheap big man unless Pargo, Hinrich or Salmons is on the way out. I think Chicago will make a big push at both Amare and Boozer very soon.

Vinny642
01-25-2010, 07:03 PM

He was pretty good with the Kings, and decent last year. What isn't he doing right?

Some Bulls fans are saying the same thing but I disagree. The Bulls had less than 300k before exceeding the luxury tax threshold and they needed another guard who could hit a 3. Gray never played and Brown fit the bill and had the right salary to make things happen.

Pargo has been awful this year, he was supposed to be a poor man's Ben Gordon but he's turned out to be a poor man's Mike James.

This will also allow Salmons to take some of rookie James Johnson's minutes at SF, and like I said the Bulls were desperate for 3 point shooting and Brown shoots something like .385

He really struggled with his shot for the first month+ of the season. This month it seems like it's clicking as he's shot .561 from 3.

Coincidently, as soon as he moved to the bench he started heating up (.568 from 3 in 13 games off the bench)

You might be right, but I don't see the Bulls wanting to pay Salmons next year. And I don't see them staying out of the bidding for Amare or even Boozer. Miami is basing it's offseason on getting Bosh, Amare, Boozer or Wade. Wade and Bosh are almost next to impossible. They should be angling for Amare and Boozer now. Their Bird Rights could be the difference of the Bulls getting Amare or Booz or the Bulls getting nothing.

Well the trade adds much needed depth for the Bulls at the guard positions. This also tells me that another trade is likely to happen cause James Johnson isn't going to get any minutes at the 3 at this point.

Devin Brown has always been an underrated playmaker, IMO.

He was a great reserve during his time with the Cavs, but didn't get hardly any pub for his contributions. And it seemed that way every time he entered the F/A market as well.
