has it ever happened or when was the last time the best team in the nba record wise only sent one player to the all star game? the cavs came close last year but mo was put on the team. with the west so stacked and tnt's debate it leads me to beleive the lakers could potentially only send kobe. in the east the celtics could have as many as 3 the suns have 2 starters
thoughts?

Yes, the only legit, HANDS DOWN, all-star for the lakers this yr is Kobe Bryant.

Just goes to show just how little the All-Star team matters

This has nothing to do with the thread.

The Mavs only sent Dirk when they won 67 and were hands down the best team in the league

Yes it does, we were 3rd seed and were robbed from having ANY All Stars. Deng deserved it that season.

Dirk went his MVP year, when the Mav's were the #1 seed, and nobody else. Technically, the Cavs had one last year, but Stern himself put Mo in after Nelson's injury. I think its a crock that the best team NEEDS 2 or more. Its a team game. There is no way anyone on the Lakers but Bryant should go this year, and there is no way anyone but LeBron on the Cavs should go

I think Lakers will have Pau and Kobe

Not to mention, Dirk didn't even get voted in when he won MVP.

Last season; the Lakers had 2 guys go (Kobe & Pau), the Cavs had 2 guys go (Lebron & Mo), the Celts had 3 guys go (Pierce, KG & Rayray) and the Magic had 3 guys go (Dwight, Shard & Nelson [injured]); that's a combined 10 guys from those 4 teams.

This season; the Lakers will likely have 1 guy go (Kobe), the Cavs will likely have 1 guy go (Lebron), the Celts will likely have 1 guy go (KG) and the Magic will likely have 1 guy go (Dwight); that's a combined 4 guys from those 4 teams.

If the coaches vote the guys most deserving, only 1 guy from each of the arguably Top 4 teams will make it to the game this season.

All you have to to do is look at the EC in the early 2000s.

Allen Iverson - 2001. Sixers had the number one seed and 1 all star.

Bulls only had 1 allstar in 1991 and 1998 when they won the title.

:pity:

are you serious? who else from the Lakers should go?

not Gasol. He has missed 17 games of 44 up to date. That's only 60% of games played. He won't go. I'm not saying he isn't on an all star level, but players who deserve to be there and have spent more time on the floor should be ahead of him.

not Bynum. The guy hasn't been playing up to the level he should be. There are other centers in the west I would place ahead of him in this category who deserve it.

and there no reasons for LO or Artest.

if you think someone from the Lakers other than Kobe should go, then you are ignorant.

The Celtics will have a minimum of 2 players, I gaurantee Rondo will go. He definitely deserves it. He's the reason, IMO, Boston's doing so well. I was skeptical about him before the season started, but the guy is good. Not sure about Pierce or Allen.

for the Magic, i'm thinking just Dwight, no one else deserves it IMO.

as for the Lakers and Cavs, you're right.

doubtful, Pau is all star worthy, but won't go from lack of games played IMO.
