Andries Biedrins is 1-14 from the free throw line...I know we all shoot/shot free throws, I think the avg PSD person probably can at least hit 50 percent (expecting a majority of us don't play basically)

Do you think he gets out of the slump?

I've seen the way some of you guys write/post on PSD and there's not a chance that you would be able to have an above 50% FT.

As for Biedrins and all the others who are incredibly poor FT shooters....

Shoot Underhand!

thats amazingly bad. Isnt he like a career 60ish ft shooter? not too awful for a Center, but what he shot the other day is just ********

I doubt any of us would be able to hit 50% but we'd probably be able to hit at least 2/14.

He is notoriously bad at free throws, he always has been.

I bet theres more than a few of us who can shot 50%. Yes game situation is alot diffrent but at the same time if we were in the gym like these guys no prop.

Shaq would probably beat 95% of us in a FT shooting contest

as professional athletes at the top of their game, i find it unthinkable that any players could be this bad at their job. that includes the regular suspects (Shaq, he's been in the league for 15+ years and still cant do a vital aspect of his job; Dwight, i read an article that said he shot 200 free throws a day this offseason and i still havent seen any drastic improvement)

That's an ironically illogical thing to say.

i think its the other way around.... 95% of us can beat shaq at free throws!!! hahaha

but a free throw is the most easy shot in basketball, i know for a fact i would be better then 50%

i see him play since i live in the bay area and he sucks so much i dont think he can improve..
he airballed one like last week and the announcers were saying he should try to shoot underhand.
but he is still awesome he had 8 blocks yesterday..

this is the only player in the nba over his last 14 free throws who has a worse percentage then shaq

Yes he'll get out of this slump & he might be awful from the line but he's one of the best rebounders in the league ,not to mention his FG percentage.

he makes up for his bad freethrows with rebounds so i am all good.

I made 48 in a row at the Y yesterday

Was always pretty good at them in High School, but hadn't really started practicing again until a few months ago.

No. Layups are the easiest shots in the game. Plus could you hit 50 percent if you were a 7 footer?

well he's been injured for the majority of the season...if you look at his stats from last year he avg'd 11 rpg...and he did that in only 32 minutes or so per game...he's one of the best rebounders in the league...top 10 for sure when he's healthy...

It's honestly absurd how bad he is at free throws... What exactly goes through his mind when he is shooting them? His free throws are laser beams, and it looks ridiculous. You'd think he would put in some logic by now and arc it a little more...

What does his rebounding have to do with his abysmal free throw percentage?

I went to a basketball camp waaaay back when I was in 1st or 2nd grade and the day always ended with free throw stations where the instructors kept track of your makes and misses. I shot 58% over the course of the camp (10 shots a day for 10 days). I have trouble understanding how professionals can't shoot 60% at the minimum.

I'm currently doing a study on how it correlates. I'll give you the results when I'm done.

Lol, give him a break. It's his first week back from an injury where he missed almost 2 months.

But on a funny note, his field goal percentage has been higher than his free throw percentage every year in his career. lol.

I disagree lay ups can get blocked, u could be called 4 a charge, and lay ups are contested, free throws are just as it says (FREE) u can shoot it any way u want to... its the most eazy shot in b ball

and yes i coud make a free throw if i was 7ft, shaq has bad form thats why he misses so ****ing much

Every once in a while I just go to a local gym and shoot 100 free throws before playing a pickup basketball game. Normally I make around 55 to 65 but I have had days where I was way off and days where I was horrendus. My worst day ever I made only 16 of 100 but my best day ever I was 88 of 100. If you can find your stroke you will do well. If not then good luck.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing most of you haven't seen how he shoots his free throws? It's absolutely hideous (picture a person standing up perfectly straight, throwing a line drive at the hoop that hits the front of the rim every time)... In the last game where he finally made one, the entire crowd was on their feet cheering for him to get him motivated to make it... I mean this is the NBA

Don Nelson actually said in a post-game conference that he brought in Rick Barry to work with him
