Video: J.R. Smith is a little confused
By Kelly Dwyer

You have to feel for Denver's J.R. Smith.
After all, Tyreke Evans has enjoyed a heck of a rookie year. He's averaging over 20 points per game, hitting from all over the court, and it was his clutch jumper that eventually won the game for his Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.
But, still, you have to make sure the hot-shot guard's shots go in the hoop, instead of just brushing against the net, before taking the ball out of bounds.

To be fair: K-Mart and Billups looked like they had no idea either lol.

Sad thing is... they lost by 2 :(.

Only Casspi really seems to notice that it was an airball.

JR Smith isn't really the smartest guy in the NBA. There are some times that I can't stand watching him.

He's not the smartest guy and we all know that but I would really like to J.R get a mentor of some type. I know players like Billups have a big influence on him but I would like to see a old timer help this guy out. He has the talent its just his mind set that holds him back.

Kenyon Martin didn't seem to know what was going on either. He turned around and saw the ball go out of bounds and didn't react.

Ahhh I had such a good laugh there. Then again, it seemed like everyone thought it went in.

I used to hate JR, but now I love his game. I really want the Sixers to try to trade Thaddeus for him. I feel it would move Iggy to the SF and we would be able to start Brand and get more playing time for Speights. JR could put up 25-30 a night, but it all depends on the amount of shots he takes.

Honest mistake, he wasn't the only one who was fooled.

Billups and Martin definitely saw the air ball. You can tell Billups was asking for the ball before Smith even went out of bounds. Players/fans didnt react because they never see something like that before and didnt know WTH was going, thus the slow reaction.

And honest mistake by Smith, by the time he turned around, all he saw was the swish. But funny none the less.

he's awesome, but they only lost by 2 so maybe it wasn't so funny for nuggets fans. Gotta love the NBA

These things always seem to happen to a select few guys.

why is he getting a bunch of **** for this?

Kenyon and Billups are getting ready for an inbounds pass and everyone else is running down the court. It kinda looks like everyone on the court is on the same page

this really is not a big deal, how many times have you been playing and some guy airballed it but it grazes the bottom of the rim and hits the net and you either double take or say wait i thought he made that. totally not that big of deal...funny but nothing to bash him for.

something to bash him for is that people use him like if he is JORDAN on NBA2k10
:(

True, Billups was also standing waiting 4 the inbounds pass. K-Mart just looked lost.

everyone else was getting back defensively cuz JR ended up with the ball. the kings aren't gonna stick around and let denver beat them up the court.

J.R.'s finest basketball moment?

Nope.

His worst?

Nope, not that either.

He took his eye off the ball so to speak - and literally - but this is much more tolerable to me (an "honest mistake" as another poster said above) than jacking up an contested 3 with 0:17 remaining on the shot clock, which is a much more recurrent and problematic situation for the Nuggets than this isolated mishap.

This is not as funny as Lamar Odom dribbling the ball inbounds, well maybe about the same!
