i vote 3.
the team has been playing really well but these are also some pretty good opponents.
plus dp will most likely get another start and he looks like he might have some rust to work off still.
if i had to guess...
ot loss to detroit (dp plays)
win vs buffalo (roloson)
loss to devils (dp)

kmo429
01-10-2010, 01:47 AM
I voted 5. Yes, tough opponents, yet 3 home games. DP gets a win at home against the Wings. We also win against the Sabres with Roloson, and not knowing who will be in net against the Devils, we lose to them in OT because we are due for an OT game against the Devils, they used to be so common....

tsunami
01-10-2010, 01:56 AM
i wish we could have 2 polls for each 3 game thread.
1 the points one that we commonly use.
2 a how many of these 3 games will go into OT

kmo429
01-10-2010, 02:16 AM
Isles have like 19 OT games this season, that's almost 1/3, so I'd vote 1 every time lol

kmo429
01-10-2010, 02:17 AM
btw, i won my jets sig bet? I am going to do a jets thign with some playoff writing n it. what should it say?

ChrisAnchors
01-10-2010, 03:21 PM
is DP definitely playing against detroit... i have tix to that game.. would be siiiiiick

tsunami
01-10-2010, 03:50 PM
^no idk for sure.
i just guessed that they'd want him to play that game.
otherwise he wont play for over a week.

Going to the Sabres game
tickets in sec 103 row AA...never heard of a row AA though...any ideas?

tsunami
01-10-2010, 04:22 PM
1st row.
those double letters are for those extra rows of seats that they pull out from under the regular rows of seating.
you're going to have trouble seeing both near corners because of all the glass you're going to have to look through.

MetsFan19
01-10-2010, 04:25 PM
Thanks....i wanted front row like right there because my birthday is friday and saturday is the only game close to my birthday so i spoiled myself and wanted to be as close to the action as possible

tsunami
01-10-2010, 04:35 PM
^well H.B. and i hope you have a good time.
unfortunately from my experience i never liked sitting within the first 5 rows of the glass unless i was behind the net. when you sit that close on the sides you end up with an obstructed view. not only do you have all the glass on the boards to try to see though but also the glass from the benches or penalty boxes makes it almost impossible to see some areas of the ice.

kmo429
01-10-2010, 10:01 PM
Yeah it is difficult to see from that close, I think 103 is center ice though, on the penalty box side, I don't know if that will make any difference.

MetsFan19
01-10-2010, 10:09 PM
Its bench side im pretty sure left of there the islanders bench is...if im not mistaken....ive never been on the glass so its gotta be cool ill let you guys know how the experience was

you think so? i heard rumors that they might sit tavares.. i would be crushed

tsunami
01-12-2010, 12:43 AM
^where'd you hear that?
i haven't heard that from any media outlets that cover the isles. just from fans who for some reason think it's a good idea to do so.

according to newsday.com and islanderspointblank.com bergie should be in the line up. they expect the islanders to put witt on the IR tomorrow which would open up a spot.

kmo429

IPB said they might sit JT tonight and let him watch a playmaker like Datsyuk play and then play him again on saturday

it would have given him almost a week of rest plus very good notes on how to improve his game

gratsbrewtown
01-12-2010, 10:32 PM
not only was that the best game the islander shave played, it was the most enjoyable to watch.. if the dmen keep stepping up into the play and generating the offense they did in this game, the islanders will def surprise some teams who are used to the islanders of old.

kmo429
01-12-2010, 10:54 PM
Wow, b ig win 6-0. We held them to only 16 shots, Roli played well, the offense and defense both played great. Best all around performance this season.

tsunami
01-12-2010, 11:31 PM
^that's what jaffe said... actually he said it was the best islander game ever under coach gordon.

rob schremp last six games:
4 goals, 4 assists, 8 points, +3, 0 PIM

Eat **** mcjoe for bashing Schremp (just kidding, i love you) lol

tsunami
01-12-2010, 11:53 PM
^ha... but still he had a very good point that schremp has waisted his talent. great news for the isles because otherwise he wouldn't be here.

btw.. i'm taking credit for the gervais goal! lol

tsunami
01-13-2010, 12:14 AM

I think i need to go to the coliseum more often.. what a great game ha

kmo429
01-13-2010, 12:46 AM
lol and yeah bailey is on fire, Okposo too, not sure about his stats, but it seems like he's scoring 1-2 points every night for the last week now at least. I really haven't seen that with Schremp, but maybe coming here can be a revelation for him and he can turn into the 1st rounder he was drafted as.

tsunami
01-13-2010, 01:05 AM
^okposo (last 4 games):
4 goals (one in each game), 0 assists, 4 points, +2, 2 pim

tsunami
01-13-2010, 01:11 AM
streit (over the last 4):
2 g, 3 a, 5 points, +6, 0 pim

if they can keep playing this well and take advantage of some time at home they could be in really good shape by the olympic break.

in the pre game gordon (radio) said that he thought the islanders having played the most games on the road (of any nhl team, up to this point) would really help them down the stretch. as they will obviously have more games at home than any other team from this point on.

kmo429
01-13-2010, 10:39 AM
Isles are really hot right now. 7-2-1 in our last 10, and that is with our 2 top goal scorers in bad slumps. Moulson had a goal last night so hopefully he can get back on track, and the type of player Tavares is, I can't see this lasting much longer.

Titan_Fan

Great Islanders win against the Redwings! Been a while since I saw such a complete game from the Isles... a full 60 minutes... and I love the way KO gets on defenseman's nerves... damn he is tenacious... LOL

buffalo coach lindy ruff on the islanders

Lindy Ruff said the Islanders are not merely a collection of gritty-gutties, but of blossoming skill.

“They’ve built quite a crop of young talent,” the Sabres coach told reporters after his team practiced at the Coliseum on Friday afternoon. “They’re a group that’s playing hard for each other.

“You look at what John Tavares accomplished in his first half-season and then compare it to some of the struggles Steve Stamkos went through last year. Tavares is a very good player and he’s only going to get stronger. (Kyle) Okposo is outstanding and now Josh Bailey is really starting to come on.

“The Islanders are a good team with the puck. They are creative. I’ve seen some highlight-reel goals, some toe-drags…skill goals. But they also go hard to the front of the net.

“Detroit lined up the excuses the other night, but the Islanders really took it to them. The Islanders’ record is very indicative of the way they’ve played this season, and they continue to improve.”

ipb.com
i'm glad he mentioned detroit and the excuses from them and their fans. it's nice to see someone outside the islanders giving the islanders credit.

buffalo coach lindy ruff on the islanders

ipb.com

The islanders played a fairly solid game last night. I feel like Buffalo slept through most of the game and decided to play ten minutes towards the end. Although it was a pretty poor showing on Buffalo's part, I give the Islanders credit. Normally we sleep for most of the game, wait for a mistake or two, and then capitalize to take the lead. I didn't think the Islanders played a great game, but there is something to be said about them not giving the Sabres any opportunities to take over the game.

6 Points against Wings, Sabres and Devils... DANG! Isles have been DOMINANT lately... I have not seen them play THIS well in a LONG time... looking more and more like a playoff team .... Great games, all of them... DiPi also looking good... if DiPi keeps getting better with playing time, heck of a combo of Rolli and DiPi....

Nice to be both an Islanders AND a Jets fan lately! LOL
