View Full Version : Unsung greatness this season

1. Tim Duncan. He is averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks a game at 33 years of age. In just 32 minutes. And people think he is old and isn't elite anymore.

Get your heads out of the sand and pay attention. Duncan is far from done...and he is still the best pure big man in the league.

2. Carl Landry. He is so under appreciated. He constantly brings it every night...he is one of the reasons why the Rockets are winning. I was one of the few who thought the Rockets had a playoff shot before the season began. But Landry made the rockets even better than anyone expected. He could be both 6th man of the year AND MIP.

3. Jarrett Jack. Like he did in Indiana to TJ Ford...Jarrett Jack is now filling in for Calderon effortlessly in Toronto...he is one of those rare players that can fill in for a starter and the team won't miss a beat. His toughness on both ends is always an asset to any team.

4. Zach Randolph. I never thought I would come and say this but Zach Randolph has really turned it around. He shows he can still dominate individually and become a team player as well. He can still be selfish at times...but he is now much better as a teammate, and the results show.

Marc Gasol.. of course...another hugely underappreciated player. And he may end up being just as good as his big brother. Good pick.

Duncan's having the best year he's had in a while. He's shooting 55%, definitely a career high. Points per game are as high as they've been in 5 years, on fewer shots and fewer minutes. His shot blocking hasn't regressed. His rebounding is about the same, even with some legit big men around him for the first time in a few years.

He's still elite. Top 10. Easily.

The rest of the guys are great picks too.

Kevin Love is my pick. Best rebounder in the league besides Dwight IMO. His PER is phenomenal. His numbers are great. He's not really a shot blocker, but his defense is not terrible. Definitely a diamond in the rough up in Minny. Jefferson and Love are a great duo to build around.

Gerald Wallaces rebounding is also one thing that stood out for me. Too bad the Bobcats still are mediocre because the level of effort this guy is displaying...he deserves a better team around him.

Rodney Stuckey
19.1 PPG
4.40 RPG
4.3 APG

Even tho the Pistons are struggling, he's performing well....

They are starting to play better. But Boris Diaw...:sigh: He's disappeared, so has DJ Augustin.

DJ has been playing a lot better, including 13 points in the 4th quarter against Miami

Diaw needs to be put on craigslist for any reasonable offer

Gerald Wallace is grabbing 12 boards a game.

David Lee doesn't get the money, but still plays out of his mind.

Jennings is actually playing quite well...but because he doesn't score 55 anymore people think he is suddenly regressing. Despite the fact that his turnovers are down and his decisionmaking is rapidly improving. The high scoring will come soon enough.

I consider him unsung now simply because his numbers don't blow you away like early this season.

I don't think Stuckey has been quietly "great". One of the worst shooters in the league. Not a great passing PG. Shooting 41.5% from the field. Turns the ball over a bit.

His PER makes it clear how average he is, especially when you realize how his numbers are inflated because of minutes and injuries around him. I'd honestly take Will Bynum over him.

Yeah...but as of late he's playing really well, and last season most Pistons fans was disappointed at his play(playing hot and cold through the season, and then hitting a wall toward the end of the season). I think he has come a long way vs last season.

I think Stuckey will get better as he gets older, and while Rip and Prince was out he was playing SG most of the games(IMO he's no PG, he's better at SG)

And a couple weeks ago he was player of the week putting up 27 points 6 assist and shooting 53%. He has showed signs of being something special

Jared Dudley for Phoenix.

The guy receives no pub.

He is one of the best hustle/energy players in the league.

His numbers this year in 24 minutes per game are:

9.0 pts 1.1 assists 3.7 rebounds .91 steals shooting 45.5% from the field, 74.2% FT and 50.0% from 3. 50% from 3 after never being a good three point shooter before. The kid worked on his shot a ton.

His numbers do not look gaudy or spectacular, but he has been one of the keys to the good start for the Suns.

Yeah I called it before the season began, TimmyD has still got it, he looks as good as he has in years.
